Chapter 19

1010 Words
Sweat trickles down his forehead down to his nape. His dry mouth and throat hurt, his muscles ache, and his mind is all messed up. He is tired but he needs to keep going. Heavy breathes from his open mouth as they turn foggy, even his body that’s now covered in sweat is now emitting wisps of fogs from how his temperature has risen. ‘One more run… I can do this. I have to...’ He thought.  Encouraging himself to move on. Despite his hurt and messy thoughts, his will is strong and doesn't want to back down. Not when everything is on the line. “[Silent steps], [quick steps], [calm], [invisibility].” Silent and quick steps for mobility, calm for normal breathing, and invisibility for stealth. All of these low and high level of spells he quickly cast. He could sense them on his heels. They’ve been on pursuit since that failed rescue mission. Now he doesn’t know where she has gone to nor Sebyl. Theo tried to infiltrate the base when he heard those words from the boy but they saw him and almost caught him. That’s why he didn’t have a choice but to flee. ‘Damnit!’ he cursed. Frustrated and angry at himself. He had failed her again and now he even got the twins in danger. Not just because Sebyl got in their hands and is probably dead but also Sebyl and Cecil have the rare bond that twin born from witches and warlocks have. They’re bonded with a very strong familial bond, meaning the two knows that the other is thinking despite not using [telepathy] spell and can sense their emotions whenever dangerous situations occur. That’s why it’s dangerous once one of them is in a life-threatening situation because the twin might fall into an indefinite coma or will be killed along with the twin. And his fear became a reality when Sebyl said those last words to him. His biggest concern is Diane but the twins are also under that concern. Regrets are too late to be discussed in this because every one of them was aware of the danger of this mission. All he needs to do is to survive and face his current problem—the two warlocks behind him. ‘I cannot go on like this.’ He said, knowing that his mana is depleting faster as he’s constantly using it for spells and it has been days since the pursuit Theo had been running in circles, making sure that he would also scout his surroundings if ever Diane would have passed by but it seems like everywhere that he went to has been nothing. He’s still near the snowy plains despite their location is far away from the base. It will be a few days more until he will reach the forest until then he needs to endure and run. ‘Diane, where are you?’ *** “How amusing.” A said someone in the shadows. She has been watching everything from the orb but she got bored of the thing and just went directly to where everything is. Now she’s watching the human runs away from his pursuers. Her sight switch towards his back where two lackeys are going after him. With a smirk, she snaps her fingers, and then the snowy ground that they were running on opened up. Swallowing the two of them in it. “Destinaire, that’s enough.” Three voices echo in her mind, startling her. “But—” “No.” one of them countered. “Come back.” The other continued. “You’ve done enough.” The last one finished. Sighing, clearly disappointed. “Fine.” With a flick of her fingers, she disappeared and the big c***k on the ground, where the lackeys are, is suddenly covered in snow. Burying the two in it. Appearing back to their Realm, Destinaire sits down on a chair next to the orb. “Why were you in the Realm of Gaia?” one of her sisters ask. “Nothing much, just watching.” “Why did you do that?” the other continued. “Entertainment.” “Why do you keep doing a lot of trouble?” the last one asks. “I’m not!” she retorts. Her clenched hands flinging like a child, pouting. “You keep on doing whatever you want without consulting us first.” They debated “But I’m doing it for the greater good and look where my decisions lead to us now.” She retorts and then silence. Smiling smugly, Destinaire is proud that she won this argument. “All we are saying is for you to be careful.” The three of them said. “Your reckless behavior might be one day your downfall.” “Yes, yes. I promise to be careful from now.” She nonchalantly said. “What if you ran into her? What could you have done?” they continued. “Can you fight her yourself?” This point of their debate, she can’t retort to it. They are right. “…no.” She might’ve been killed in the spot even. Sighing in defeat, Destinaire folds down her pride. “I’m sorry, I’ll be careful next time.” “Next time?” they ask, stopping their work and look at her. She shudders, clearly weak whenever they do this to her in her scolding. “Fine! I’ll stay here and just watch from the orb.” She said, pouting. “Destinaire, we understand your worries for them but you have already given their chance. Now let them do whatever they need to do. We just hope and pray to the Cosmos that they will succeed this time.” Her pout turns to a straight line, ditching the chair and is now just floating in the air with her back straight. Flicking her fingers, the orb ascends from its stand and floats along with her. She remembers the past where he was trialed for loving a nymph, for it is taboo. He got punished by living in the Realm of Gaia and was given a test to go back to their Realm. Then the rebellion started and the Realm of Gaia was the first to get succumb to destruction. It was the darkest time when he was alive at that time. With her power and his strong will and her sister’s permission and blessing from Time, they were able to rewind not that far before the Realm of Gaia was destroyed. Now that they are living their second life, they must succeed in winning the test before the destruction will start. For once it begins, it will be their last chance.
