Odette´s pin

2043 Words
It was later than she imagined it was, as soon as she stepped on the sidewalk she knew it was too late for her to reach the dorm before night fell in its whole force. That was going to be a long and hard night. Lilith began running as fast as she could to reach at least college even if not her dorm, but unfortunately she was desperately running without watching the way and ended up in a place she had never been before. There was a beautiful park full of night flowers which opened at the sight of the upcoming full moon, her heart was filling with the feeling of safety the place gave her, until she saw it, the white shadow of a raven was appearing in the far corner of the park. Lilith’s heart was immediately covered by desperation, she had to get out of that place as fast as she could, so she began running and running away until she was so tired she could barely move, but even with all her effort she did not reach her destiny. She was lost in a trap of too many streets and houses too similar one to the other so she was not able to even find her way back. Her desperation turned into tears, which fell slowly down her cheeks like little diamonds. -          Please I just want to get back. I just want to be safe in my room. Lilith did not know to who she was talking to but she could not hold back her words of pain; that moment something unexpected happened to her. Her instinct began pulling her to a very dark alley she could see in from of her, Lilith was afraid it might be a trap, but as always she followed her instinct. She walked towards the alley, and once covered by darkness she felt safe. Her heart relaxed so that moment she was able to walk again.  Lilith had never been in those streets before, but something besides he instinct was driving her like if she had known those alleys and streets her whole life; in less than 5 minutes she was completely safe back in her campus while heading to her dorm.     The sight of the building she knew so well made her sigh in relief even if a shadow of unsafety was deep inside her because she was outside the room because of the full moon, nevertheless she also felt free. She headed to the main door when something caught her attention, there was a group of people looking at her with hate; she was used to those kind of gazes but never so many and at the same moment,  then she felt it, something was wrong. Really wrong. -          How dare you come back here?! – said one of the girls of the group. -          Excuse me, but if you have not noticed I live here, so is quite obvious that I would go back. -          What? Are you kidding! Better leave before we have to force you to... -          Sorry, but you are not in the position of imposing anything, so if you do not mind I will keep going to my room. Lilith kept walking when she felt many hands hold her hard and trying to take her away, but as soon as she thought that they should leave her alone and let her go inside, a hard light from the moon made them go blind. The people who were holding her began screaming and left her go to cover their eyes for an impossible protection. Taking this advantage Lilith moved as fast as she could and run into the building and up the stairs, she was not going to wait for the elevator to arrive while there was so many people there trying to hurt her. Finally when she arrive to the 10th floor she could slow down and get her heart back to normal as well as her breathing; she felt finally back to normal when she headed to the room she was supposed to be already. She opened the door wishing to find everything in place but when she saw what was there; Lilith fell unconscious.     Lady Lucy was resting on one of the favourite room of the emporium, drinking some white tea and reading one of her favourite books next to a soft fire she had in that place. Everything seemed to be in perfect order, after all the snow wolf part of her soul could not feel anything dangerous or abnormal in the environment, when a melodic but hard voice spoke to her from the shadows. -          Tell me Emilie, did you accomplished the mission I gave you? -          I am not Emilie! I am Lucy! -          That is not the point LUCY, just answer my question! -          Yes, Madame I did what you asked me. -          Perfect, so now I can assume that the hair pin from Odette’s ballet costume is in the power of the daughter of our enemy. At least that child will be able to sleep safe, even if just for now. With that the voice faded while Lucy returned to her previous activities as if nothing had happened in that precise room just a few seconds ago.     -          How on earth did you let her come in?! – Screamed the dorm leader - she was not able to return here!  Lilith could hear even if her body refused to follow the commands her mind gave, she tried to move but a hand took him by the shoulder and did not allowed her to. -          Lilith do not move, you hit yourself very hard so it is better if you stay where you are until you feel better. It was Martha. For the first time in a long time she found her words comforting and supportive. Lilith opened her eyes slowly, only to find a group of people around her trying to hold her again. What was going on? Suddenly she remembered everything. Her room had been covered in black feathers and blood all over the floor,  but there was something she could not remember, she knew there was something on her wall, but her mind refused to bring light to what it was; with all the strength she had Lilith got up from the floor and slowly walked back to her room. It was still the same, no one had dared touch anything which had been left there and much less when most of it was covered in blood. With a sigh she got strength to go inside, but once she saw to her bed, she knew she should not have. Lilith screamed as hard as she could when she saw a gutted raven on the blankets of her bed, just to scream again when she read on the wall:   “Welcome to your worst nightmare J.”   Martha and the dorm leader entered the room when they heard the screams, what could be happening, after all, they both thought Lilith had done it by herself, so why scream. -          Lilith stop screaming! We all know you did... The voice of the girl in charge of the room’s discipline faded as fast as it appeared when she saw the animal and the writing on the wall. She also knew that even if the girl shocked in to front of her was creepy, weird and all, her love for animals was very well known around the campus, so she would have never hurt a raven the way it had been destroyed. -          Lilith, are you ok? - asked Martha. -          I... I am not sure I am, how could have someone done this... The answer was suddenly interrupted by the woman in charge who a dressed to Lilith. -          Do you have any idea of who could have done this? -          I do not know... Wait, Martha told me about a new guy who make himself called “J”, just as the signature. -          But Lilith! It cannot be him, he is just so.... – Martha answered looking with rage at Lilith. -          Martha the physical is not everything! Beside this is a warning for me, whoever it is wanted for me to get the message high and clear. -          What do you mean? – Asked the dorm leader – why do you think it is for you? It is just a dead bird. -          First because it is in my room, and second, it is not a simple bird it is a Corvus Corax. -          A what?! – screamed the 2 girls in the room. -          In simple words it is a common raven. -          And why is that important? But before Lilith could answer Martha did with fear on her voice. -          Raven, is Lilith’s middle name.     After a few moments speaking about the topic the leader decided it was the best decision to send Lilith to another room in the building next to the one she was registered to, and even if without the approval of her “friends” she decided to go alone and sleep in a single room as she had always has, she had made a choice, she will not let that bastard scare her and much less interfere with her life. Once in her new temporary room, she unpacked the few things she had been able to take out of the place, between them her music player, some clothes, her diary and a few books. She took her pyjamas out of the bag and began undressing to get ready to sleep. But when she took out her corset, something fell from it and made a metallic noise when it hit the wooden floor. It was the pin Lady Lucy had given her when she got out of that beautiful shop, no not shop, Emporium. Lilith picked up the piece from the floor and untied it from the ribbons which tied her corset, she had completely forgotten about it with all that have happened, but that moment she took it delicately on her joined hands and began analysing it carefully. At first it seemed to her for it to be a brooch or a pin for some clothing, but she had got it wrong, it was a hair accessory that seemed to be strong and secure one and apparently made of the most impressive silver she had ever seen; it had also some black feathers, an empty silver cameo in the middle which was surrounded by dark red roses, silver leaves and there she could see the little red stones shining like drops of fresh blood. It was such a wonderful piece but there was something else there, it was a strong energy which made her feel scared but protected at the same time, suddenly she realise something she had not noticed before. The style, the colour, the feeling and the magnificence of it could mean just one thing. -          This is Odette’s hair pin! ... Lilith could not believe it, something weird was happening, first the golden rose, then the dead raven and now this! Definitely, something unusual was happening there. With that thought, she decided to put on the pin, while recalling all the events which had passed that day, it was as unexpected as it could have been; suddenly, she remembered “Jared” the signature of the letter with the golden rose! -          No! This cannot be happening! ... It cannot be him, why saving me if he wanted to destroy me! – Lilith said out loud to herself -          Maybe his plan was to t*****e you first – answered an unknown voice inside her head. This that answer she recalled what Lady Lucy told her that same afternoon: -          I know Lady Lucy, she had a ready tried to kill me more than once... -          That is not the worst she can do to you, trust me, I know. Maybe it was one of her mother’s plans. How could she had been so naive or stupid like to trust someone she just met, she knew that people, no matter what, were not trustworthy until they proved her otherwise. It was one of her first rules!  But she let herself get drowned in those hypnotic eyes and now she was paying for the stupid decisions she made that night. That feeling made her too miserable so with tears of disappointment in her eyes she decided to go to bed as fast as she can so she can get lost in the reign of nightmares.
