6. Lunar Academy

1962 Words
Shyla's POV: Present Day... We arrived at Lunar Academy the night before orientation, and I was blown away by its historical beauty. The school, which towered four stories high, resembled a castle. This school has been around for hundreds of years and produced countless warriors, doctors, and healers, and I couldn't believe I would be studying here for the next year of my life. I made my way up the stone steps. Inside the academy, it looked like an ancient empire. The walls had huge paintings of the three Alphas who started the school: Alpha Ruben of Stone Ridge, Alpha Dawn Burton of Clear Water, and last but most definitely not least, Alpha Alexander Clarke of Dark Moon, Kellen's great-great-great-grandfather. Dark Moon is the only royal pack remaining. "Let's go find your dorm," Noemi smiled. I sighed, a little disappointed that I wasn't sharing a room with her; I was stuck with a stranger since I was here on a scholarship and couldn’t afford an apartment. Plus, she's a mated woman, which is equivalent to marriage for our kind, and it's to an alpha, so she has a private house reserved for the alpha's and their mates if they have one. We walked to the female dorms, and unfortunately, my room was on the third floor. Fortunately, I only had one suitcase. We found my room easily, and I unlocked the door, ready to take a peek inside my home for the next year. However, I gasped in shock at what I saw. A petite girl with short black hair was naked on top of a boy with bright red hair, bucking her hips like her life depended on it. Her small perky t**s bounced up and down as she waved us into the room with no shame. "Hey girl, you must be Shyla," she said, sticking out her hand. Noemi and I gave each other curious looks, then smiled politely and extended my hand to meet hers. "I'll just let you finish up here," I stammered, my cheeks heated up with embarrassment as I staggered to leave the room. "No worries, we're done," she smiled, and as if right on cue, the man beneath her let out a long, exasperated grunt, followed by a soft moan as he shuddered underneath her. I was fascinated that somebody so small could bring that much emotion out of somebody as large as the man she was with. She jumped off of him and walked naked to the closet on her side of the room and put on a pink robe. She had pretty almond-brown eyes, plump lips, and pale smooth skin. "I'm Kate," she said, "That's Ernie." She pointed to the man, sprawled out on her bed. I nodded to him politely, unsure what to say, and I definitely didn't want to shake his hand... "I'm Shyla, and this is my best friend, Noemi," I said, pulling Noemi forward. She had a complex look on her face. I knew she was just as uncomfortable as I was, but I wanted to be polite. "Noemi... The Noemi Ashfall?" She sighed in awe, looking at Noemi as if she would blow away in the wind if she blinked. "The future Luna of Gray Fang? "Yup! That's me." Noemi responded stiffly, walking my suitcase over to my bed. "OH. MY. GOSH!" Kate gushed as Noemi smiled modestly, and I couldn't help the smile that crept onto my face. Noemi was a trendy girl, known everywhere she went. She's a true luna. How she carries herself with poise, grace, and confidence should be studied, if you ask me. Her influence on fashion, beauty, and business has been talked about within the pack lands for a while now, and although she's an icon to most, she's pretty introverted and keeps a small circle. She didn't like the spotlight despite her calling, so it's fun to see her get flustered. "It was so nice to meet you, Kate, and you, too, sir," she said, avoiding the large man still lying naked in ecstasy on the bed. "But, I'm going to head out. I have to unpack my bags." "I'll see you tomorrow before class?" She asked, turning to me. I nodded and gave her a brief hug… I did not want to be left alone with these two, but I had no choice. "So..." I began awkwardly after Noemi left the room," Is he your boyfriend?" "Who? Ernie?" she laughed comically and shook her head with disgust, "Hell no! He's just a warrior I f**k from time to time". She shrugged with no shame. "Oh," I mumbled, then I added, "That's cool," for some reason. I instantly wanted to slap myself. Why did I say that? Kate laughed, clearly not bothered by my shyness. "Do you have your schedule yet?" she asked. I shook my head as I slowly began to unpack my suitcase, "I'm picking it up before tomorrow's assembly." "Cool. So, what pack are you from?" She plopped down on my bed and looked up at me curiously. I shrugged, unsure what to tell her; I didn't want to say flat-out I was a rogue, but I also didn't belong to a particular pack, and she'd smell the lone wolf on me eventually if she stuck around long enough. "I spent most of my life in the Dark Moon pack, but for the last 3 years, I've been staying in Gray Fang for school". I settled for the PG version of the truth. I liked Kate. She was relaxed and gave off chill vibes like she wasn't judging me at all... "So... Dark Moon is where you grew up?" she said, her eyes shining brightly. "Yeah... kinda," I said, folding my clothes neatly before stacking them in the drawers connected to my bed." "That's amazing," She breathed with flirty eyes, "so you know the Alpha Prince?" My blood ran cold, and my skin crawled at the mention of Kellen... I hadn't thought about him for years and didn't want to start now. I shook my head, choosing to withhold that truth. It was believable because Dark Moon was huge, and they had several small packs in their territory, each with about 100 -150 wolves. I could have come from one of those packs, for all she knows. "He's so f*****g hot, you'll see what I'm talking about tomorrow." "What?!" I nearly yelled, dropping the pants I had just neatly folded in my hands. She chuckled and looked at me strangely. "Yeah, he's like the head honcho here... he basically runs this academy." I found myself unable to speak as my knees gave out beneath me. However, Kate, utterly oblivious to my distress, kept on talking. "He's been here since 16, the youngest student to attend this academy. They say he will be the greatest Alpha King ever to live." She scoffed, throwing her hands in the air, and sat up from my bed. "He's not even king yet, but he's like a total beastly hunk, super talented, and abnormally hot and buff." Her eyes filled with lust at whatever sick thoughts her brain was mustering up. I rolled my eyes. She must not know the asshole that I grew up with, but I wasn't going to rain on her parade; I would keep my thoughts on Alpha Prince Dickhead to myself. "Uh, Kate?" I said, waving my hand in front of her face, drawing her attention back to me. "Oh, sorry," she giggled, her pale cheeks slightly blushing, "Did you know he shifted randomly at 16? The elders took one look at his wolf and brought him here early. They think he has great potential to be the strongest alpha that's ever lived." I shivered at her words; the thought of someone who made it his life's mission to make my life a living hell, having that amount of power or influence, was a horrifying thought. So much for my fresh start. But who knows? Maybe I won't see him. This school looked like a mini-castle. Surely, I wouldn't just casually bump into him, and even if I did, he wouldn't remember me, right? "Rumor has it he still hasn't found his fated mate yet," Kate said with that look of lust back in her eyes... "So I'm going to try to hit that before he does. Alpha Kellen is the only alpha left that is not mated." She pouted I wanted to hurl my belongings out the window. My worst enemy is attending the same academy, and he ran the school... I was so angry I could explode. All the torment he put me through came flooding to the forefront of my mind at once. "Are you sure you don't know the alpha prince?" Kate asked me skeptically. "Cause your whole aura just got real dark." She eyed me closely. "I mean... I knew of him as a kid, but our worlds didn't really collide," I said weakly. "He's the King's son, and I'm a mere omega." "Oh, so you're one of the four omegas attending on scholarship?" Kate asked, completely dropping the previous subject. Her attention span was short, I noted mentally. I nodded my head. Shock and a look of fascination gleamed in her big brown eyes. "Oh my gosh, I cannot believe you're my roommate!!" she gushed, bouncing up and down on the bed. I couldn't have been more confused, but before I could say anything, she ran over to her side of the room and pounced on top of the man lying in her bed. I forgot he was still there. "Ernie!" She screeched, "This is the Omega who won the Academics scholarship!" He sat up and gave me a once over, his eyes laced with lust as they traveled up and down my body, lingering on my chest. I flinched away from his gaze in disgust. Ewww. She turned back to me, "You must be a force to be reckoned with." "Why do you say that?" I asked, feeling uncomfortable. I instantly thought of my past, wanting to remain invisible, but I was also excited that people were excited to meet me instead of being repulsed by me. "You're like a big deal around here," she smiled. "Everyone cannot wait to see the only omega in history to make it into Lunar Academy," she winked. “Really?” Now it was my turn to be shocked, "But I thought the scholarship was reserved for four omegas?" She laughed, "Yeah, right ... the other three scholarships went to financially restricted Gamma wolves and one Delta." "What?!" I shouted, beginning to sound like a broken record, but nothing made sense. "Why do you look so shocked? You made History, girl, aren’t you proud? "I didn't know," I whispered honestly. "Well, you've been the hot topic of everyone's conversation over the summer." "Is it true you don't have a wolf?" She rested her face in her hands, looking at me with wonder, awaiting my answer. "Not yet. I won't turn 18 for a couple of months." "WOW," her eyes flashed with astonishment, "that is impressive." "You think so?" I asked shyly, folding my shirts. "Yeah," she smiled, "everyone here does." Wow, for the first time in my life, people looked at me in awe and not with disgust. I could get used to this. "I'm going to shower," Kate said. It's cool to meet you! And I'm glad we're roomies!" She gave me a quick hug. Then she got up to leave the room, smacking Ernie, who followed her. I took my time decorating my room to my liking and did my best not to think about Kellen. It's been four long years; there is no way he could still be concerned about me. Right?!
