Drew stood by the door for several moments, watching the last car leave. His mind churning what their next move should be. All they knew so far was Sykes was apart of it, but who was the mastermind behind everything. Who would want Shay? As she said she didn’t go to many places. It had to be someone with a lot of money because Sykes didn’t take a payment upfront.
He jumped when Shay’s arms wrapped around his sides and clasped in front of his stomach. He had no idea how long he’d been standing there. Must be a while if Shay came to check on him.
“Anything interesting out there?” She asked. Her head turned to the side to rest her cheek against his back.
Drew placed a hand over hers. “No, just thinking.”
“I thought I smelled smoke.” He smiled at her teasing tone.
