Mystery

The music downstairs was much louder than it had been upstairs. I am sure that was the manager's intent to get people to pay the extra for the V.I.P. section. By the time we reached the dance floor, the music had turned to a slow song. Slow dancing wasn't a strength for Blake or me, but we embraced anyways. He was holding my right hand with his left and had his right hand high on my back. "What was that about?" Blake asked as he looked down at me. "I am sorry I wasn't trying to be rude." I paused, "I just thought you wanted a break from the talking. Forgive me?" I finally asked him. "Forgive you? Are you kidding me" Blake paused, then started busting out laughing? "I am so happy you did. That guy is a total d**k, but do what you got to do, right?" Blake was still laughing. I was laughing right along with him as we moved side to side along with the song. Once the song was over, the band picked back up playing fast music.      Blake and I finally let loss and started to have some real fun. We had been out of the dance floor for a couple of songs when we both decided it was time for a drink. I pulled Blake's shoulder down to tell him that I needed a drink, but when I turned towards him, my eyes met by dark blue eyes across the room. I hadn't mentioned anything to Blake about the guy that I ran into today. By the time he got to my apartment, we had started on our way, and then there wasn't a time to mention it. Now I wish I had told Blake about him so that I could point him out to Blake. I had no idea who this guy was, but something inside me said that we knew each other. Blake looked down at me, and a frown crossed his face. "Hey, are you feeling ok?" He asked. "Yeah, I just need a drink." Blake laughed and then held up a finger for me to wait a minute. I saw him scanning the room, not that I was sure what he was looking for, my eyes followed his line of sight, and I noticed there were waitresses' all around the club.     Blake was working to flag one of them done, so I stood there waiting for him to do so successfully. I slowly turned my head back towards the bar to see if the mystery man was still standing there. One of the 'waitresses walked up to him, and he spoke to her, and then she walked away. I couldn't read his lips because I was too far away, but when he looked back, I was still staring at him. I quickly turned away, and I could feel my cheeks heat. Blake must have noticed my quick turn because he squeezed my hand, and I looked up at his face. Blake was giving me the I just caught you eye-f*****g someone look. I bit the inside of my cheek to hold back the laugh that I was about to let out. I didn't need to give Blake any more reason to question what I was doing. "See something you like?" He asked, smirking at me. "Do you know who that is?" I shyly asked while nodding towards the bar. I watched as Blake followed my line of sight to the bar. I knew when he saw who I was talking about because his hand squeezed mine harder. I met the mystery man's eyes, and they had turned almost black looking. Then I saw his eyes falling to where Blake and my hands were entangled. "Are you kidding me?" Blake asked as he pulled me back on the dance floor. He had jerked me so hard that I almost lost my balance. I wasn't sure what the hell he was doing, but he hurt my arm.                Once we were in the middle of the crowd on the dance floor, I thought he would stop walking. Blake didn't, though, and he just kept pushing through the crowd till we were in a dark corner by the stage that the band sat on. "Ouch," I yelled as I was rubbing my arm and hand he was pulling. "What the hell was that for?" I asked. "Do you have any idea who that is?" I could feel anger pulsing off him. "No, that's why I asked you if you knew who he was. Why are you acting like this?" "You have to promise me you will stay away from him, Lily," Blake said as he grabbed me by the arms. "You are hurting me!" I said, trying to pull out of his grasp. "What the hell has gotten into you? Who is that?" I stopped struggling when I realized it was of no use. Blake just stared at me as if he was trying to read me. Then he jerked his head up and started to scan the club. I assumed he was looking around for the mystery guy.     How in the world was Blake reacting to someone like this and me not knowing who this guy was? "His name is Wyatt Dixon. He is one of the billionaires in town. I have heard girls on in the productions talk about him. Those things aren't good, and I don't want you anywhere near him. Do you understand me?" "Maybe it is just a woman scorn kind of thing. I ran into him earlier today and not that he was the nicest person in the world, but I wouldn't say he is someone I would suggest people stay away from." I paused, trying to read Blake's expression in the dark lighting. "Blake, you are my best friend, and right now, really, my only friend. You can't pull me around like that, though, and you can't tell me what to do. Do you understand me?" I asked. I expected Blake to give me a lot of push back for what I had just told him. He was set on me staying away from this Wyatt guy, but I didn't get it.     Women did tend to bend the truth to what they want. Plus, being a trained psychologist, I would know if there were any danger signs in this guy. I mean, we rode down an elevator together, and I wasn't afraid of him. Yeah, he seemed distant and cold-hearted, not to mention cold to the touch. I didn't intend to seek Wyatt out, but I wouldn't be a coward and avoid him if we bumped into each other. No one deserved the reputation that others give them. They only deserve the reputation they have earned. Most things people say can be accurate, but I wouldn't conclude until I met the man and had a discussion with him if ever personally. Now that Blake seemed to calm down, I pulled him back onto the dance floor to distract him, so we could go back to enjoying ourselves. I was tapped on the shoulder and turned around too abruptly because I bumped into the person standing behind me. The person who just tapped my shoulder was the waitress that had been talking to Wyatt at the bar. She didn't speak but held out a drink to me and then handed me a second drink. After I was holding both bottles, she looked me up and down before turning and walking away. I hadn't realized that she brought me the exact drinks that Blake and I were already drinking until Blake thanked me for his drink. All I could do was think what the hell was going on? First Blake, when all alpha ass because of me asking about this Wyatt guy. Then I see that Wyatt guy talking to a waitress as Blake tried to flag one down. Then her bringing us drinks that we were already drinking. I scanned the bar for Wyatt, so I could go up to him and ask him what the hell!
