Nathan’s POV. I woke up to the sensation of pain pulsating through my hand; it must have been sleeping. I rubbed at it as I sat upright, slowly working out the kinks in my body and finding that my neck was stiff from having slept awkwardly. Blinking twice, I strained to recall why I was there and what had occurred before I had gone to sleep. I was still inside of my office, the desktop scattered with sheets of paper—crinkle-edged or else perfectly flat. Right, I had stayed up pretty late last night researching a cure for the epidemic sweeping through our pack. I guess I must have overdone it because next thing I knew, I’d fallen over and slept.
