Mrs. Johnson's voice was firm but gentle as she spoke to Lena. "Lena, I need to talk to you about something. I've heard about your pregnancy, and I want to make sure you understand the consequences of your actions." Lena's eyes dropped, her face flushing with embarrassment. She knew what was coming. Mrs. Johnson continued, "This isn't just about taking care of a baby, Lena. This is about your future. Your education, your career, your entire life is at stake." Lena felt a lump form in her throat as she thought about the weight of responsibility ahead. "Lena, you're 20," Mrs. Johnson emphasized. "You're still in high school. How are you going to provide for a baby?" "I don't know, Mrs. Johnson. But I'll figure it out." Mrs. Johnson's expression softened, her voice taking on a compassionate tone. "Lena, I want to help you. But you need to understand that this isn't just about you anymore. This is about your baby's well-being, too." I'm sorry kid that this had to happened to you but it wouldn't have if you've made right decisions, but it's okay it's not a death sentence you can still put your self right back in track after giving birth to your child.Mrs Johnson added.you can go back your class now. Lena walked back to her classroom, her feet heavy with shame. She felt like everyone was staring at her, judging her. As she entered the classroom, conversations halted, and eyes turned toward her. Lena's face burned with embarrassment. She made her way to her seat, trying to avoid eye contact. But she could feel the weight of her classmates' gazes. Sophia and Rachel, her best friends, looked at her with concern. "Lena, are you okay?" Sophia whispered. Lena nodded, What did Mrs. Johnson say?" Lena took a deep breath before whispering, "She told me about the school's policies for pregnant students...and suggested alternative education options." Sophia's eyes widened. "What does that mean?" Lena's voice barely audible. "It means I might have to leave school." The bell rang, signaling the start of the next class. The room erupted into chatter, but Lena's mind was elsewhere. She felt lost, unsure of what the future held. Ava, Max's ex-girlfriend, stood in the school hallway, a sly smile spreading across her face. "Hey, Max, I heard you're going to be a daddy," Ava said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. Max's expression turned cold. "Ava, mind your own business." Ava chuckled. "Oh, this is my business. You're still stuck on Lena, and now she's pregnant? That's priceless." Hahahaha Lena, walking down the hallway, overheard Ava's mocking tone. "Leave us alone, Ava," Lena said, Ava turned to Lena, "Wow, Lena, you're really trapping Max with a baby, aren't you? Desperate much?" Max stepped forward. "Ava, that's enough." "Whatever. You two are perfect for each other. A teenage pregnancy and a doomed relationship. Congratulations." Hahahaha With a parting laugh, Ava sauntered off, leaving Max and Lena feeling frustrated. Soon the walked into their classroom As the teacher began the lesson, Lena's thoughts drifted to her baby, to Max, and to the uncertain road ahead. Lena's phone buzzed in her pocket. She pulled it out, her heart skipping a beat as she saw Max's text "Hey, meet me at the park after class. Need to talk to you about something important." Lena's mind raced. What did Max want to discuss? Had he changed his mind about the baby? She typed out a quick reply: "Okay, see you then." Throughout the day, Lena's nerves grew. She couldn't focus in class, her eyes drifting to the clock. Finally, the bell rang, signaling the end of the school day. Lena gathered her belongings and headed to the park. As she arrived, Max was already seated on a bench, his eyes fixed on her. Max and Lena sat together on a bench in the park, surrounded by the serene sounds of nature. But the tranquility was short-lived. "Lena, I've been thinking...about the baby," Max said, his voice laced with hesitation. Lena's eyes locked onto his, her expression cautious. "What about it?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Max took a deep breath before dropping the bombshell. "I think we should consider...termination." Lena's face fell, her eyes widening in shock. The word hung in the air like a challenge. "Abortion?" she whispered, her voice trembling. Max nodded, his eyes avoiding hers. "Yeah. It's the best option, Lena. We're not ready for a baby. We're still in school." Lena felt a surge of emotions, anger, hurt, and betrayal. She searched Max's face for a glimmer of empathy but found none. "How can you even suggest that?" Lena asked, her voice rising. Max shrugged, his shoulders dismissive. "It's just a practical solution, Lena. We can't provide for a baby right now." Lena's eyes welled up with tears. As Lena walked away, Max's eyes remained fixed on the ground. He knew he'd hurt her, but he couldn't shake off the feeling of uncertainty. "Wait, Lena!" Max called out, standing up. Lena stopped but didn't turn around. "What?" she asked, her voice firm. Max hesitated. "I just...I don't know if I'm ready for this. Being a father, I mean." Lena turned, her eyes blazing. "You're not ready? You think I'm ready? I'm scared, Max. But I'm willing to try." Max looked at her, feeling a mix of guilt and frustration. "Lena, please understand Lena cut him off. "No, Max. I understand perfectly. You want to escape this responsibility. Well, newsflash" this baby is coming whether you're ready or not." With that, Lena turned and walked away, leaving Max feeling lost and uncertain. As Max sat back down on the bench, he realized he'd made a grave mistake. He'd hurt Lena, but he doesn't care. The school secretary, Mrs. Jones, dialed the phone number listed on Lena's emergency contact information. After a few rings, Mr. Carlos, Lena's father, answered. "Hello?" "Mr. Carlos, this is Mrs. Jones from Oakwood boarding school . I'm calling to speak with you and your wife about Lena's situation," Mrs. Jones said. Mr. Carlos's tone turned serious. "What's going on with Lena?" Mrs. Jones hesitated. "Lena is...pregnant, Mr. Carlos. We've spoken to her, and she's aware of the situation. However, we need to discuss the school's policies and procedures regarding pregnant students." Mrs. Maria, Lena's mother, took the phone from Mr. Carlos. What do you mean Lena is pregnant! By who? How! I'm not in the right place to answer your questions Mr and Mrs Carlos, your daughter should, I'll suggest you speak with lena.mrs Jones replied, "What does this mean for Lena's education?" Mrs. Maria asked, concern etched in her voice. Mrs. Jones explained. "According to our policy, Lena can continue attending school, but she'll need to meet with our counselor to discuss accommodations and support. However, if Lena chooses to keep the baby, we recommend considering alternative education options, such as homeschooling or our school's parenting program." Mr. Carlos's voice firm. "What are you suggesting? That Lena give up on her education?" Mrs. Jones clarified. "No, Mr. Carlos. We want to ensure Lena receives the support she needs. Our parenting program allows students to balance parenthood and education." Mrs. Maria spoke up. "We appreciate your concerns, but we need to discuss this as a family. Can we schedule a meeting with the school counselor?" Mrs. Jones agreed. "Of course. I'll schedule a meeting for tomorrow at 2 PM." As the call ended, Mr. and Mrs. Carlos exchanged worried glances. "What are we going to do?" Maria asked. We have to tell her grandma and Dad" "We have to tell them. They need to know." "Abuelo, Abuela, we got a call from Lena's school! Abuelo's expression turned serious. What's wrong?" Mrs. Carlos took a deep breath. "Lena's...pregnant." The room fell silent. Abuela's hands flew to her mouth. "Dios mío!" Abuelo exclaimed. Mrs. Carlos nodded. Abuelo's face lit up with a warm smile. "Un bebé! We're going to be great-grandparents!" "Dios bendiga a nuestra familia! (God bless our family!)" "Why upset? Life is full of surprises. We'll love and support Lena and this precious baby." "Sí, familia es todo. (Yes, family is everything.) We'll help Lena with the baby." We trust Lena. She'll make good decisions." "Let's celebrate! We'll make tamales and empanadas for the whole family." "M'ija, we love her no matter what. This baby is a blessing. "This changes everything. Lena's future, her education...her career." "I know. We always envisioned her going to college, making a better life for herself." Abuelo and Abuela entered the room, "Un bebé! We're going to be great-grandparents!" Abuelo exclaimed. "Abuelo, Abuela, this isn't a celebration. Lena's life is being derailed." "Nonsense, Life is full of surprises. Lena will adapt. She's strong." "You're not thinking about the practicalities. How will Lena support herself and a child?" "God will provide. And we'll help, of course." "That's not the point. We wanted more for Lena." "Sometimes, life gives us more than we planned. We must embrace it."
