Chapter 4

By the time I had finished running my lungs burned, my head pounded and my legs felt like jelly. I had arrived at my grandmothers house. I opened the door and wandered straight in as was customary at my grandmothers, I called out but no answer. Ad I wandered though the house I discovered freshly baked cookies cooling on the kitchen counter and heard a creaking sound coming from the back porch. Sure enough there was my grandma Phyllis, in her rocking chair drinking her herbal tea. "Dahlia Darling, shouldn't you be at school??" She asked, not seeming surprised in the slightest. "I have a free period" I lied. "how nice of you to pop in, how's things with you?" she enquired gently. Gran and I always had such an open relationship, she never judged me so I decided to blurt out the whole story of what happened at school. she listened intently while I finished the story even though I was probably rambling like a crazy person. Once I finished talking she had an odd expression on her face, she looked almost sombre. "I think it's about time we had a little talk" she stated. "Look Grandma, if this is about the birds and the bees then your well too late to..." I said half joking. "It isn't" Gran stated cutting me off and looking unimpressed I was making light of it, "I need to tell you about your family history, and I need you to keep an open mind, can you do that? "Erm.......I think so" I cautiously answered.
