My Gran looked at me for a moment studying my face as I sat and prepared myself for whatever she had to say, it sure seemed serious. "Dahlia my darling, there's always been something different about our family, the women in our family more specifically". Confused i interupted "but what does that have to do with anything?" "Strange things seem to happen around the women in our bloodline, not so often that the towns people ever caught on, though thier not the brightest bunch, but enough for it to be a pattern" My Gran continued, adding to my confusion. "So we attract earthquakes? what are you saying?" I blurted in my frustration. we were talking in riddles as far as I could see. I wondered what she was getting at. "All living things are connected to nature, our bloodline has a deeper connection than most, we can make things happen. Usually it takes a great deal of practice, however with the powerful it can be a result of strong emotions that have been left unchecked" Gran continued despite the perplexed look plastered all over my face, "witches I think is the popular term for us now, in my day we called ourselves elementals". "you can't be serious" I laughed. " I most certainly am serious and your powers have come in earlier than most. It usually doesn't occur until your 18th birthday, since yours have displayed early I will have to contact the elders to have you registered with the council in advance of your 18th birthday, also known as your awakening" She announced so matter of factly. the room was spinning, no not the room, it was my head that was spinning, I need to get out of here. I made my excuses and ran for the door as fast as my legs would carry me, wasn't even worry at how lame my excuse for leaving was, I had to get out.
