ELODIE’S POV The forest didn’t feel the same once I left the house, it wasn’t how I had expected it to feel when I left Nathan’s house. To be honest I don’t even know what I had been expecting because its not like I knew anything about this place. But this wasn’t what I had been expecting from a forest that barely anyone ever thought about or even visited, it wasn’t peaceful and it wasn’t freeing. It was… just exposed. Every step I took felt heavier than the last, my senses stretched too thin as I moved further away from the only place that had offered me any kind of protection. I told myself this was the right decision. That I needed this. That I couldn’t stay there and pretend things were simple when they weren’t. But the further I walked, the quieter it became.
