I didn’t tell her when I left Not because I didn’t think she deserved to know, But because if I stayed long enough to explain it. I might not have gone at all, The night made it easier. It always did.
The pack house sat exactly where it always had, but the energy around it had changed. Tighter. Heavier. More controlled than before. I guess that was to be expected specially with the path that Damon had chosen for himself and the pack. He was preparing, that much was clear.
I moved through the outer perimeter without being seen not because the guards were careless but because I knew where not to be. Where not to step, where not to breathe. Years ago, this had been mine and even now, it still remembered me.
