Nyra’s POV For the first time in years, I couldn't sleep. I hated that. Sleep had never been a problem for me. The ability to rest while others worried was one of the reasons I survived court politics. While other wolves allowed fear to consume them, I learned how to put fear aside until it was useful. Lately, however, fear seemed determined to make itself useful. I stood on the balcony outside my chambers long after midnight, staring out at the palace grounds below. The kingdom slept. I did not.
