Everything felt like it was about to explode, I felt like I was in a movie. Nathan being my hero and Damon literally being the big bad wolf. I still couldn’t believe that he actually wanted to kill me this bad. The tension between Damon and Nathan had turned into something sharp. Dangerous. One wrong move and it wouldn’t just be words anymore.
I could feel it in the air, in the way Damon’s body had gone still, like a predator seconds away from striking. In the way Nathan didn’t move at all. Didn’t back down, didn’t let go of my hand. And then—
“Enough.”
Nyra’s voice cut through the room like a blade, her voice carried so much authority I had to stop myself from bowing down. That alone was enough to make me understand why Damon wanted her over me.
