ELODIE'S POV The Omega quarters smelled different. That was the first thing I noticed. Not pine and stone like the Alpha wing. Not the clean, polished scent of the main halls. Here everything smelled like soap, damp wood, and too many people living too close together. The room they gave me was small. One narrow bed pushed against the wall, a wooden trunk at the foot of it, and a tiny window that barely let the afternoon light through. It wasn’t the worst place in the Omega wing. Which only made it worse. Because I knew why. Damon. The thought alone made my chest tighten. I forced it away and focused on the cloth in my hands, scrubbing the stone floor in the corridor outside the communal washroom. The bucket beside me was already grey with dirty water. My back ached. My knees hurt.
