Chapter 4: Dinner and Shopping

Jamie's POV Once I got home last night, my mom, Gavin, and Benji questioned me on Alex for about an hour. I had told them about my date and they had all freaked out about it. "We have to get him ready for his date." Gavin said to my mom and his boyfriend. She gasped and nodded, excitedly. "Let's go!" They dragged me up to my room. My room had wooden walls and I had an Aztec patterned blanket hanging up on my wall. My bed was on the floor because I've always been scared of under the beds since I was a little kid. I had an Aztec quilt on my bed and my sheets were gray. I had a light brown wooden nightstand. I had a purple lamp sitting on it. I didn't have a closet, but I had a wardrobe pole across my room on the farthest wall of the room. My shoes were laid out underneath my hangup clothes. There were shelves covering half of the wall space adjacent to the wall of my wardrobe. "Okay, so what're you going to wear?" Gavin asked me. I went over to my clothes. I grabbed a pair of dark green skinny jeans, a white t-shirt, and an off white cardigan with a gray pattern on it. I paired my outfit with black shoes. My mom, Gavin, and Benji sat on my bed, watching me as I got ready. I sat at my counter in my connected bathroom and applied mascara to my eyes. The only makeup I wore was mascara and occasionally eyeliner, but that was only at special times. I walked out to my room and I looked at my clock that sat on my bedside table. It was 6:53 and I started to feel extremely nervous. I sat down on the edge of my bed, trying to calm my nerves down. Benji came over and sat next to me. "Everything's going to be okay." He was the type of person that knew everyone's emotions and always knew what to say. He was super shy once you met him and he still was the closer you got to him. The only person he is open with is Gavin. "Thanks, Benji." I whispered. He gave me a soft smile and put his arm around my shoulder. I set my head on his arm and waited until the doorbell rang. I stood up, sighing. "Everything's going to go great." Gavin whispered to me. I nodded and walked down the stairs. I pulled the front door open and Alex smiled at me, looking at my outfit. He was wearing dark blue jeans, a green t-shirt with a leather jacket, and black shoes. "Ready to go?" He asked me with a cute smile. "Yeah, let's do it." I said and he reached out for my hand in an affectionate gesture. "Bye, guys." I said to my mom and friends. We walked to his car and got in. There was soft music playing in the background. Alex was running one of his hands up-and-down his jeans, probably trying to take the sweat off of his skin. It was super obvious that he was really nervous for this. "So where are we going, babe?" I asked with a small smile. He looked over at me and his lips widened slightly into a smile. "It's a restaurant Matthew told me about. Is that okay?" I chuckled. "Stop being so nervous, Alex. I'm not going to bite.. well, not yet." His face turned red into a blush and I chuckled again. His face became serious. "I just don't want to mess anything up with you." I sighed. "You won't mess anything up. Just be yourself and everything will be okay." We pulled up to a small restaurant and we got out together. The hostess smiled at us when we walked in. "Good evening, do you have a reservation?" Alex stepped up in front of the counter thing. I immediately stepped next to him, close enough so our arms were touching. "Yes, it's under Ivey." She smiled, grabbed two menus, and motioned for us to follow her to a table. We walked outside to the patio. It was pretty cute. The table cloths were black and the tables had two white lit candles sitting on top of it. "Your waitress will be here shortly."The woman said before leaving us. We both sat down across from each other. Once we ordered our food, we looked at each other. It was kind of awkward, so I looked out at the big field that was next to the patio where we sat. "I love nature." I whispered. He smiled. "I do too. When was the last time you let your wolf out?" He whispered, so no one would hear. "I don't even know. With work and everything, it's hard to just be alone with my wolf." "Why don't you ask for some time off?" He asked, taking a sip of his water. "I can't. My mom needs the money to pay for the house." "What about her job?" He asked in confusion. "It doesn't pay that well. We have to pay for the house and our car and lots of other things." I said and I looked back out into the field. My head was starting to spin like it always does whenever I think of the bills. "Jamie, calm down. Everything's okay." Alex said. I started to run my fingers up-and-down my covered arm and my nails dug into my skin through the cardigan. Alex reached over and took my hands in his. "You're okay, I promise." He whispered. "We're having trouble with the bills and we might lose our house and I'm so scared and stressed-" I said, starting to become hysterical. "Hey, hey, look at me, Jamie," he whispered. I looked up into his eyes. "I'm not about to let that happen. You're not going anywhere, okay?" I nodded and put my head down. He sighed and got up. He pulled me up, so I was standing and pulled me into a hug. "I'm sorry. This is supposed to be a fun date." "Don't apologize, it's okay." He whispered, running his hands up-and-down my back. We sat back down and he looked up at me. "Let's go for a run after this, okay?" "I should really get home. We can-" I started. "No, you deserve to take a break and let your wolf out." I smiled at him. "Okay." We got our food a few minutes later and started eating. Once we were done, I thought he was going to take me back to camp, but he didn't. "Where are we going?" I asked. "You said that you give most of your money to your mom for bills, right?" He asked. "Yeah, what about it?" "And you like designer clothes, right?" I smiled. "You're taking me to the mall." "Yep." He said. "Alex, you don't need to do that. I don't want to waste your money." "This isn't a waste of my money. It makes you happy, that's never a waste." "Babe.." I whispered, feeling a sense of happiness run through my veins. "So where do you want to go?" "Neiman Marcus is really good." I whispered. "Hey, this is supposed to be fun, right?" "Yeah." "Then stop worrying about the money and let me make you happy." I smiled and nodded. "Okay." We pulled up to the mall and he held my hand as we walked towards the store. I was super happy at the affection he was giving me. "I'll try to not spend too much, but at this store, that's going to be kinda've hard." I said, chuckling. Alex chuckled too. "Don't worry about money, Jamie. Get anything you want. I have enough money that I need - being the beta and all." I pulled him to the side, so we were standing by the wall. He gave me a confused look until I put my hand on the back of his neck, pulling our lips together. He smiled into the kiss. I let my hand slide into his hair and his locks wrapped around my fingers. We pulled away and he gave me the cutest smile I've seen from him. "What was that for?" He whispered. I smirked. "For being super sweet to me." He chuckled and gave me a quick kiss before continuing to walk towards the store. Once we got in there, my smile immediately widened. "You love this." Alex whispered with a smile. "I do. I like how outfits can show how people feel that day and can show creativity through articles of clothing." I whispered. He ran his hand through my hair. "That's adorable." "These are cute." I said, looking at twill navy pants. I looked up at Alex and he smiled at me. "They are cute." "Sweetie, can you at least try and sound enthusiastic?" I asked, chuckling. "Sorry, I just don't get so excited over clothes." I pulled on the leather jacket he was wearing and sighed. "That's because you have such boring clothes." He chuckled and kissed my forehead. "Okay, so those pants and what else?" I looked around fora bit and I eventually found a multi-print short-sleeve sport shirt.Once he paid, we went back to his car. We had a very fun conversation talking about random people at school. He pulled up in front of my house and I sighed. "I don't want to go. I want to stay with you." "I know, Jamie, but I have to get home. How about we go out tomorrow?" He asked. "I have to work all this week." I said with a sad tone. "Hey, we'll see each other this week. We have school together." He said. "But that's not that long." I whined. "How about I take you to school and then I'll drive you to and from work?" I sighed, looking down. "Okay." "I'll see you at 7:30 tomorrow, okay?" He whispered, running his hand through my hair. I leaned over, kissing him passionately. "Okay."
