CHAPTER FIVE

She looked up and stared into the most gorgeous eyes she had ever seen, she had to pull away from him and said, "am sorry sir".

"It's fine Just be careful next time," he said helping her gain her balance.

He was been nice because his grandma was watching.

"Good night dear," he said,

she looked at him with raised eyebrows and he signaled to her that his grandma was watching.

"good night" she responded with a stifled smile and left.

She stepped out of the fashion and took a taxi straight to the hospital.

She walked into her mum's ward and her heart broke into tiny pieces, her mum was hooked to multiple machines and she seemed like she was struggling to breathe.

Nicole covered her mouth to stop her from sobbing so loud that she felt a comforting hand on her shoulders and turned around.

"There is nothing that you can do for her with these tears, you have to find a way to save her not breaking down like this," the doctor said comforting her.

She sniffed and nodded her head in understanding.

"Please doctor do all you can to keep her stable I am doing my best to raise the money for her surgery," She said

"It's fine I assure you she is in safe hands, we will do our very best" he assured

"Okay doctor thanks I will sit with her for a while and take my leave," she said.

"Very well then," he said and walked away.

Nicole stepped back into the room took a sit beside her mum and held her hand saying,

"You are going to be well again I promise, I am not going to lose you, be strong mummy I love you" she whimpered

There was little or nothing Nicole could do about her mom so she left. She got home around 11 pm dog- was tired and dozed off.

The rays of the sunlight woke her up and she realized it was already 8 a.m., the picture of her mom lying helplessly on the hospital bed came to her mind and her heart broke all over again.

She got out of bed took her bath and got dressed for her 9 a.m. appointment, she walked into the sitting room met her brother had breakfast, and dressed to go out.

"Hey'she greeted,

"hey," he responded,

"Breakfast is served do you want some, "he asked.

"Sure" she responded as she sat down and served herself.

"I am heading back to the hospital today our school is on holiday so I will be staying with Mum at the hospital for now," he said

"That's fine" she replied.

"Everything is going to be alright I promise," she said squeezing his hand reassuringly,

he simply nodded and continued eating his food his face looking so forlorn..

Fifteen minutes later they both boarded different taxis to the respective locations.

She got to the building and got directed to Robbie's office and she knocked on the door hesitantly a male responded.

"Please come in".

She stepped into the office and greeted Mr Brandon and his friend Robbie.

"Right on time," Brandon said staring at her.

She didn't respond to that she just stood on the spot.

"Hi Miss Nicole it's a pleasure meeting you," he said hand stretched out for a handshake and she took it saying, "Same here".

Brandon cleared his throat when he noticed the handshake lingering longer than necessary.

Robbie simply smiled and let go of her hand,

"without wasting much time let's go into the business of the day please have your sit. he said

She did as she was told.

"You didn't come with any legal representative? Robbie asked.

"That won't be necessary as long as mr Brandon keeps to his part of the deal am fine." she calmly

"Okay then go through this and let us know if you are satisfied with his terms," he said handing her some documents.

Brandon crossed his legs studying her appearance wondering how she managed to look good in her simple outfit.

She took the document and read through it, all she concentrated on was the paragraph that stated the amount of money she would get immediately after she signed the documents.

including huge monthly allowances that she was entitled to for the duration of the marriage.

"Can I get a pen?" she asked calmly

"Sure, why not" Robbie answered

She took the pen and signed the document with a bored look on her face.

Brandon did the same quite worried about the energy he was getting from Nicole.

"When can I get the check please" she asked.

"You would get a deposit before the end of today, "Robbie said.

She simply nodded.

"Thanks, I will be on my way now if that is all," she said standing up.

"Not so fast Miss Nicole we both have another appointment to catch up with," Brandon said.

"WE" she asked surprised.

Yes "WE" he stated leading her out of Robbie's office and towards his car.

He helped her into the car and took his place next to her and the driver drove them.

This is the first time they are both sitting so closely.

"Are you alright?" he asked looking at her

"You look pale," he said

"am fine thanks please where are we going to" she replied his question nervously.

"To get you an engagement ring after that we are going to the stylist for your makeover," he said

She took a deep breath and asked,

"Why would I need a makeover?

"You are going to be my wife honey and today is our engagement party and announcement" he stated

"First of all I am not your honey, second of all who hears about her engagement party a few hours before the occasion," she asked wild-eyed.

He smiled at her obviously enjoying her discomfort for some reason.

"You didn't read through the contract you signed," he said calmly.

What!! She exclaimed

"Our engagement is tonight and our wedding is in two weeks, it's going to be a private wedding with only our immediate friends and family as witnesses," he said.

She was so shocked she couldn't find her voice, she just continued to stare at him helplessly.

"Please don't look so shocked they were stated clearly in the documents you signed," he said with a shrug of his elegant shoulders.

"There is just one thing we have to work on and that is how to act like lovers in public" he continued

Lovers!! she exclaimed again

"Yes lovers that's what the world will see and we had better start getting in some practice" he responded.

Before she could understand what he meant he leaned forward and captured her lips in a soft kiss and the world stood still.

Her eyes grew wild in shock at his sudden action.

"Kiss me back'' he groaned.

She opened her mouth and his tongue invaded and took her breath away. He cupped her cheeks and deepened the kiss.

they were so lost in the moment until the driver said "We are here sir".

He withdrew from her and stared at her both of them trying to catch their breath.

"That would be convincing enough," he said calmly

She could barely look at him.

"Let's go" he got down and helped her get down the touch of their hands sending sparks they both tried to ignore.

They got to the designer shop and she reluctantly picked a simple elegant diamond ring.

He dropped her off at the celebrity stylist and designer for a business meeting.

"Hi miss Nicole are you ready to get the best makeover ever" the designer asked excitedly.

Nicole simply nodded and was led into the styling room.

After four hours of making decisions on hair, makeup, and her outfit Nicole was exhausted.

She took a break only to get an alert from Brandon that had her on her feet and headed straight to the hospital.

She approached the cashier as soon as she got to the hospital and made payment for her mum's surgery.

"The surgery would be carried out in 24 hours" he assured her.

She nodded and went in to see her mum and younger brother.

"Hey," she greeted,

"hey," he responded.

What's up? he asked her.

"Everything is going to be fine now mum will get her surgery in 24 hours," she said smiling.

What!!! Are you serious? How, where, when!!! He asked surprised.

"Relax bro I will explain everything later I promise, I'm just glad she is going to be fine," she said, her eyes glittering with tears.

"Is this what I think it is? He asked holding her hand and staring at the expensive rock on her finger.

"Yes it is"…she answered nervously.

"you got engaged?? He asked with wild eyes.

"Yes I did" she nodded.

"To Jake? He asked

"No" She simply said

"Then who," he asked
