"That's absurd, Drew! We can't go through with that!" Finn immediately opposed his friends' proposal.
"Why? Don't tell us it's because you have feelings for Lauren," Drew taunted Finn.
Finn locked eyes with his best friend. Until then, he couldn't bring himself to admit it to them.
"Come on! Don't be foolish!" It was the safest response Finn could muster. "I've already severed ties."
He stood up and ran his hands frustratedly over his face, then made his way to the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing out at the cityscape.
He couldn't allow it. He needed to create some distance from Lauren. The ache from six years ago persisted. Maybe he shattered her heart, but who hadn't felt the sting of their breakup? Leaning against the mirror, he sensed a sharp pang of sorrow in his chest.
