I Guess I Was Wrong

I am amazed at the fact that you can see almost a hundred motorcycles just as you catch sight of the lake. There are about 30 of us, not counting our parents and guardians that will be here tomorrow night. I am excited for the first time in my entire life to be celebrating my birthday. My brother already seems to know what area we're headed for, so we can set up our tents and stuff. We all followed him to a spot where there were already 7 motorcycles parked. I couldn't help the excitement when I recognize Luke's bike sitting there among the seven others as I pulled up and parked right next to it with a smile on my face. Before I even have a chance to kill the engine, that smile and excitement plummet to the pit of my stomach as I see Luke. He is sitting in a chair with a redhead on his lap trying to inhale his face.

I have no idea how Heather got to me, or how long I've been sitting there watching for that matter. Not until my engine cuts out, and I hear her, "Hey Rain, are you going to be okay ??"

Then it hits me, I wasn't supposed to be able to be here. Luke was never going to meet me for our plans for my birthday, or even call me to cancel, or tell me anything. He was going to ghost me today. When he was the one who convinced me that him and I should do something special for my 16th birthday, just the two of us. He wasn't even going to call me or anything.

Kevin walks into view as he taps Luke on the shoulder and Luke detaches the succubus from his face. He stands up to give my oldest brother a bro hug and as they're talking Drake walks into view. Only Drake doesn't give Luke a bro hug or anything like that, because all of a sudden, out of nowhere, he punches him right in the face and Luke's ass hits the ground. I can't hear what Drake is saying from here, but he is pissed off as he leans over Luke pointing his finger at him. When Drake's finger moves and points in my direction, I am tense because Luke's head turns the same way, and he's now looking at me.

I pulled my helmet off and got off my bike and turned to Heather, "Ya, I'll be just fine. Let's get our stuff and find a spot to get set up."

"OMG, did Drake really just punch Luke over you?? That is so sweet, "Heather swooned as we walked to the back of her Lexus 330 and proceeded to get our things out.

We set up our tents and stuff as far from Luke's camp as possible without Kevin blowing a head gasket. Once we were done we changed into one of our new bikinis, grabbed our towels and headed down to the lake to go swimming. Dropping our towels on the ground before we race to the water and jump in.

After swimming for a bit, Heather says, "Hey Rain, I am hungry, want to get something to eat ??"

"You go ahead ... I think I am going to swim a bit longer. Then I will meet you back at camp", I said before floating on my back, letting the water take me away.

I am lost in my own little world as I stair up to the sky, until out of know where Drake pops up out of the water, roaring as he lifts me into the air, "Awwww, Drake !! That's not funny jerk !!"

"That would depend on who you're asking, because I found it to be hilariously funny," he says with that sexy smile of his.

Rolling my eyes, I said, "Whatever."

He moves me so that we are now facing each other, with his arm's wrapped around my waist, "I thought I would let you know that I accepted your bet earlier."

I pushed away from him and splashed him in the face before swimming to the shore, calling to him over my shoulder, "I already figured as much Drake."

Climbing out of the water, I search for my towel when I hear a group of guys whistling and calling out things to me like, Damn baby let me get your number, and, babygirl, you look sexy as hell in that bikini, and then some stuff I would rather not repeat.

I am grateful as Skyler walks up to me holding out my towel, "Here I thought you might want this."

"Thank you, Sky, you are so awesome, because I most definitely do", I tell him as I wrap it around me

He smiles,"No probable sis. I have something for you for your birthday. If you want, I can go grab it and meet you back at your tent."

"Really ?? That sounds perfect !! Meet at my tent in 15 minutes, okay??", I excitedly say.

He agrees just as excitedly and we split up.

Making my way back to my tent to get changed. I was hanging up my wetsuit to dry when I heard Kevin speaking to someone not too far away, "Brandon man, when did you get back from out of state ??"

"Hey Kevin, what's up Man .... I just got back today. How have you ?? ", This Brandon responds to my older brother.

"I cannot complain", he replied.

"Hey Skyler, where is the fire at man ?? Can't stop to say hi ??" Brandon, said to my little brother.

"Oh, hey Brandon. I am just going to give Raina her birthday present. You should come meet her," I heard Sky at the door of my tent.

"Wait like your sister ... That Raina ??", Brandon asks.

"That would be me, the one and only", I said, stepping out of my tent and freezing in my steps.

When my eyes land on Brandon, my knees almost buckle under me. He has short dark hair, perfectly tan skin, good looks for days, and the tattoos that cover both of his arms have me breathless.

When he smiles at me and asks with a chuckle, "Do you like what you see ?? I have to say I like what I see."

The words fly out of my mouth before I even have a chance to think about them, "Most definitely"

"Dude ... Come on, I am right here, and she is my baby sister", Kevin says to Brandon.

Who in reply says, "Ya man, we just clarified the fact she's your sister. Weren't you paying attention ??"

I laugh out loud at how he teases Kevin because I don't get to see Kevin getting messed with that often.

Kevin and Brandon head off to get drinks for us and I turn to Sky expectantly, " Well.... Give me , give me "

He laughs, handing me a rectangular box that I open excitedly. When I see what's inside, I almost cry at the thoughtfulness of his gift.

"Did you make this specially for me ??", I asked.

He looks at me sheepishly as he rubs the back of his neck and says, "Yes, but if you don't like it, I can get you something else or-"

I cut him off, wrapping my arms around him and hugging him tightly," Sky, this is the most thoughtful gift I have ever gotten. I absolutely love it and I will cherish it forever. Thank you so much."

I pull the leather vest out of the box and laughed as I read the patches that he sowed on to it.

One says, Bad Ass Big Sister, a couple of others say, M.C. Princess, Touch My Harley 500 & Die, In My Defense I Was Left Unsupervised. My favorites say, Well, Well, Well, If It Isn't The Consequences Of My Own Actions, and, When I Said How Stupid Can You Be It Wasn't A Challenge, "These are great Sky."

"I figured we could make more and them over time, you know", he said, stoked by my reaction to his present as I slipped it on.

I smile, "That's perfect, I look forward to it."

"Hey Skyler !! Come help me with something really quickly please", Tyler yells from a distance.

"Okay, be right there. Don't forget we have to do your birthday interview before 12 AM", he reminded me, as if I had forgotten, before running off.

I turned around and headed back inside my tent as I heard Luke calling my name, "Raina."

Ignoring him, I walked over and lay back on my blown-up mattress. With my arms stretched out over my head, flat on my back with my eyes closed and I listened, knowing he wouldn't just leave.

Sure enough, a few seconds later and he is now standing over me inside my tent, "You're just going to ignore me like that ??"

Biting both my lips between my teeth to keep myself from scoffing, I continued to ignore him.

" Keep messing around by ignoring me and finding out about rain", he has the nerve to threaten me.

So I continue to ignore him.

Come to find out, that wasn't a threat as I now find myself completely pinned down by his body on mine, "What do you think you are doing Luke !!"

I tried hitting him only for him to catch me by my wrist, keeping them pinned above my head, "Getting your attention Raina !!"

"Ya well I don't want to give my attention to you Luke... Why don't you go back to your redheaded succubus and leave me alone !!", I yelled, maybe a little too loud.

The stupid jerk has the audacity to smirk at me, "Raina ... Are you jealous right now ??"

I feel my eyes start to burn as I fight back tears, "Go to hell Luke, I am more than just jealous. I am hurting because you where just going to ghost me. I thought we we're closer than that, but I guess I was wrong. After begging me to promise that I would see you with my own two eyes in person today ... And you... you ... You left town with saying a word !!"

Before he has a chance to respond we hear Kevin as he enters my tent grabbing Luke by the collar of his shirt, "That's what Drake meant earlier when he hit you. Let's go have a talk outside somewhere private Luke. Come on."

Thinking I was now alone I cover my face with both my hands and let out a silent sob, "Did you see his eye ??"

I let out a laugh as I wipe my tears away, "Yes I did see his eyes and thank you Drake for sticking up for me."

He lays down next to me and pulls me so that I'm laying with my head on his chest while he holds me,"That is a move I never saw coming from Luke. So yeah when I saw him talking to Kevin as Tammy hung around his neck like a chain. And when I looked over and saw that you were seeing that same thing. I lost it."

"You know Drake, you would make a really great boyfriend if you weren't such a man w***e", I say honestly because he would.

He lightly pinches my chin tilting my face up so we are looking into each other's eyes, "I am only a man w***e when I am single. If I am Dating a girl, then I am only her man w***e and nobody else's."

"Is that why you said you would not mess around with anyone if I agreed to go on a date with you ??", I ask him.

"I figured my actions would speak louder than my words", he says leaning over and kissing my forehead.

"I have to say your actions have impressed me so far, considering you would have already been hooked up with a couple different girls by now", I say with a laugh.

He smiles, "Oh, I have no intention of losing our bet or the opportunity to rub my prize in Luke's face."

"Raina .... Come outside please. It is really very important", Heather call's from outside my tent.

Drake must see the apprehension I am feeling written on my face because he pulls me up with him saying, "Come on, you won't want to miss this."
