Slipping this out under cover of the table while Jay was off listening to some garbled spiel from his new father-in-law, she only meant to check her messages. What Julia got instead was instant outrage, followed by the walloping shock of a lifetime. And somehow the extinction of all she held dear inexorably proceeded from that poisoned seed. Among the various work-related correspondences that couldn’t even wait on her goddamn wedding day was a huge, data-gobbling email from that outrageously menacing maid of honor.
