CHAPTER 24. LENA POV The sunset had bled out into deep indigo, leaving only the faint glow of dying light hanging on the horizon. I stood at the terrace railing. Salvatore was too close. Not touching me, but standing near enough that I could feel the heat rolling off him in waves. I could smell the faint trace of gun oil and salt on his skin from the day's meetings. The scent made my chest tighten in ways I didn't want to examine. I hated how aware I'd become of him. Every shift of his body. Every quiet breath.
