Coming Home

I was about to knock on the door when it opened. “What brings you here Zack?” Meg asked with a small smile on her face.  “Dad wants you and Kip for a trip he needs you for.”  “Where are we going?” Kip asked coming around the corner. “Silver Moon pack.” I said. Kip sighed and grabbed his coat. “What had Greg done now?” He asked. “My dad has all the info.” “Let’s go honey.” Kip said grabbing megs’ hand and pulling her with us. We climbed into the SUV I brought with them in the back seat. I stopped by the pack house and picked up my dad and we where on our way. “So Darek what has Greg done now that need our help?” Kip asked with a slight smile. “Its not what he has done but what he has found.” My dad sighed. “Found?” Meg asked confused now. “Last night Greg said a wolf came running into their land. The wolf passed out and they brought it in. When the wolf woke up, she said that her name was Zena.” “What kind of joke is this?” Kip snarled. “I don’t know. Greg wanted us there to get the she wolf. It could be your daughter or someone else. We don’t know but it’s the first time someone has even brought up Zena.” “Zena is gone.” Meg said with a broken voice. “WE need to at least go and check.” My dad said and then was silent. There was a thick silence in the car for the whole three-hour trip to the Silver Moon pack. When we got there and parked in front of the Greg was waiting. “Now stay quiet.” My dad said meeting Kip’s eye. We got out of the car and Greg greeted my dad. “Thanks for coming so quick. Follow me she is inside.” Greg said leaning us into the house. We came around the corner into a kitchen and Meg and Kip stopped in their tracks. “Zena?” Meg said and I could see tears in her eyes. The girl looked up and my heart thumped in my chest. She was beautiful even is she was extremely skinny. The girl looked us all over and my eyes widen when our eyes met. Ice blue eyes like a wolf. “Mom?” She said her eyes sparkling with tears. “My baby.” Meg pushed pass everyone and grabbed her daughter. “I’m so sorry baby. I couldn’t save you.” Meg cried. Zena cried and clung onto her mom. She cried like a child. Meg brushed her matted hair and whispered in her ear. Kip was just standing in place staring the same and me. I wanted to comfort the girl. I didn’t want to see her crying. Like she sensed me Zena looked up again with red eyes and looked at me. She stood up and walked closer, I could see her wolf rise up and it was a wild creature. Nothing like the wolves in the pack. She bent close to my throat and took a deep breath. “Who are you?” She asked. “Honey that’s Zack. You used to play with him when you where young.” Meg said whipping tears off her cheeks. I could smell the woodsy sweet smell of Zena’s wolf as she wrapped her arms around me. “You smell like home.” She said and went limp. I caught her in my arms and looked down at her with wide eyes. “She has a fragile mind. I’m not surprised after what she told me.” Greg said. “Tell us what you know.” My dad said as I lifted Zena into my arms. “She told us she was experimented on. They forced her to stay in her wolf form and drugged her. She didn’t explain much but she is scared.” Greg said. “Thank you for taking care of her.” My dad said smiling. “Yes, take her home and let her get settled. She has had a hard time.” Greg said and left the room. I lifted Zena into my arms and carried her to the car. Kip and my dad sat in front and Meg and I sat in the back with Zena between us. Everyone sat in silence while my dad drove. “We will have to keep her at the pack house for a while.” MY dad said breaking the silence. “No, she is going home.” Kip said with a growl. “From what Greg said she was experimented on and we don’t know what they did to her. You saw her when she saw Zack, she has no control over herself, staying at the pack house will be the best place for her to stay and keep her from running into other pack members before she is ready.” “Kip its fine. We will still be able to see her at the pack house.” Meg said touching her mate’s shoulder. Kip relaxed and nodded his head. “Where are we going?” Everyone jumped. No one heard Zena wake up. Her heart rate didn’t speed up or even change in the slightest from before. It stayed at a slow and steady beat. “Home.” Meg said grabbing her daughter’s hand. Zena looked around the car and her pale eyes started to lose their shimmer. “I don’t like it in here.” She said looking around the car. “We will be arriving at the pack house pretty soon. Why don’t you tell us what has happened to you?” MY dad said looking at her through the rear-view mirror. “After I was taken, I woke up in a room. There were no windows just a bed and a monitor that beeped with my heart. I was alone in there for a very long time strapped to the bed. It seemed like ages before men came in.  One had a white coat on like a doctor and the other a suit like a businessman. They talked about making me obedient and that what they were going to do to me might kill me. They injected me with something that made me burn over and over again. After a while they started cutting me and recording what happened. If I healed or not and how fast I did. The once I outgrew the bed that I was in and the straps were getting too tight for my body the took me to a cell room where other creatures were being held. They forced me to change into my wolf form and I stayed like that until I finally got out.” “What did they inject you with?” Meg asked. “I don’t know.” She shrugged. “Do you feel any changes?” I asked. Zena paused for a second then shook her head. “Not that I know of.” She said which didn’t feel like the complete truth. “Well we are about to get to the pack house, Zena you will be staying with us for now until you get used to the pack and recover.” My dad said as we pulled up front of the house. Dad parks the car in front of the house, and we all crawl out of the car. “Zack take her to a room, Meg and Kip go see if you can find some clothes that actually fit her.” My dad said entering the house and leaving us to take care of the rest. “Come on.” I said grabbing Zena’s hand. Her hand fit perfectly in mine and she followed me without questions. She was perfect even being too skinny for her own good. I knew from the first second I saw her that she was mine. My perfect match, my mate. “Who is this?” A voice shook me free of my thoughts of Zena. I looked up to see Kayla. She had long blonde hair and bright green eyes. She was beautiful or at least that is what I thought before I saw Zena who was the complete opposite with black hair and her wolfs blue eyes. I tugged Zena behind me and kept ahold of her hand. Kayla’s eyes narrowed at me as she looked at Zena over my shoulder. “Who is that Zack?” She sneered looking at Zena. I smelt Zena’s wolf rising and squeezed her hand. “Only the alpha can tell you who she is. If he allows it then that’s fine.” I said keeping my voice even. “But Zack you’re the alpha’s son you have the same amount of power as him.” She said reaching out and touching my chest. There was the start of a growl behind me, and I squeezed her hand again cutting the growl short. “I do not have the same amount of power as my dad so you will have to go ask him. I need to take our guest to her room.” I said while I pulled Zena with me. “Zack I have the right to know about the girl you are bringing into the pack house.” “Kayla, you don’t need to know until the alpha says so. Now go somewhere else.” I growled. Her eyes widen and she stood in place as I lead Zena away. I didn’t give Zena a room where we house all of our guest but instead have her a room where my dad and I lived. The pack stayed away from this area and would not bother Zena here. “Here you can stay in this room while you’re here in the pack house.” I said standing awkwardly by the door. “Thank you.” Zena said smiling. “Then I’ll be leaving. I’ll come get you in a little for dinner.” I said turning to leave the room. “Wait don’t leave.” She said grabbing my arm. “What?” I turned to Zena and she looked as confused as I was. “My wolf doesn’t want you to leave, and I’ve been alone for so long. Please don’t leave me alone.” She said sounding scared. “I won’t leave you.” I said stepping closer. My wolf cried out for her and without a second thought wrapped my arms around her and pulled her against me. I will not leave her again.
