II Growing up in Steller’s Mill wasn’t the easiest thing for a young girl, but my family made the best of it. I had eight brothers and I was the middle child. I grew up never knowing how to be a lady- my siblings made sure of that. We wrestled, slung mud, worked our fingers to the bone and beat each other with anything we could find. I think most of us respected our parents but gods bless it if we weren’t a handful. From the day I was born my parents ran the only tavern in the town. It was expected that when we were old enough to wash dishes, we’d work there with them for a pittance- our weekly allowance. It was difficult work and not made for children, but it was all they had.
