Take me away

Olivia’s POV I put on a little black dress with a conservative neckline the bottom falling just below my knees and some strapped black heals, and threw my hair up in a tight bun. I know Annie was strictly going for business but I was hoping to have some fun, besides I wanted who ever saw me to know Annie associated with classy, professional people. I grabbed my bag and went to the car to meet her. There she stood a bundle of nerves but dang she looked amazing. Her long dirty blonde hair hung down in perfect loose curls, she chose her light pink satin top, it was like a tank top but went up around her neck buttoning in the back, she had it tucked into a tight high rise black skirt that stopped right at the knees, and hugged her curves perfectly, and the black Mary Janes with pink buttons up the back of the heal were the perfect final touch. “This job is yours.” I say giving her a wink and a bright smile, making her relax and let out a small laugh. “I doubt it but thank you, and you look fabulous as always, but this is strictly business!” “Speak for yourself!” I reply with a small laugh. We get in the car and head downtown. “So where was Juan this morning?” I couldn’t help but blush a nice deep shade of red. “Uhm after you went to bed we watched a movie and caught up a little then he just went home.” I try to sound as if it was like any other time we hung out, but something was different this time, he confessed he had feelings for me, and he didn’t want to bury them anymore, he said losing his father made him realize life is worth all the risk, but I didn’t have the guts to say anything back. I wanted him, I felt a true soul connection to him, I had felt a draw to him from the first time we met, but I am more fearful of losing him if things didn’t work out. So I let him spill his guts and then told him I couldn’t, I wasn’t ready, that I needed time to process. He got up and said he’d give me time but he needed time to deal with my response and left. I felt so stupid. Why didn’t I just tell him the truth, why was I so scared to take a risk. Suddenly I’m pulled from my thoughts as Annie slams on the breaks. I look out the window and a huge crowd is outside of the club, police have them pushed back and I can see Phil and Tony toward the back of the crowd with their equipment ready. Annie and I rush out of the car and run over. “What is going on?” Phil and Tony point to the field across the street, We turn to look and see atleast 25 pale looking people, dark red blood shot eyes, bodies sunken in to the point you can almost make out every bone and they are just standing there with their teeth bared, but they aren’t really moving, they are standing eerily still, barely breathing and look as though they are awaiting some sort of command. Annie turns to me and leans close to whisper , “ They look like those cannibals that were on the news the other night.” I keep staring across the street and give a silent nod. Annie gives the command to start rolling. “This is Annie Levay coming to you live from Briggs street, where we have a group of possibly diseased, emaciated looking people gathered in a field across the street, we are going to go talk to the head of police who appears to have his men prepared for something let’s go find out.” The chief is barking orders and trying to hold back the mob of people “GET BACK! I NEED EVERYONE TO BACK UP ATLEAST 10 FEET, DON’T MAKE US USE FORCE.” “Hi excuse me Annie Levay from TZXY Chanel 10 news here, can you please tell us what’s going on?” The chief pauses and gives a nod,“Sure, but I need you back behind the line.” We all take a few steps back. “We got a report of some suspicious activity in the field over here, when our officers arrived they saw these people dodging in and out of the trees, when we asked them to stop they began to growl and got into this formation. They don’t appear to have any weapons, but they could be on something so we need to keep the parameter safe.” As the interview is happening the sky begins to shift turning red and becoming darker almost like an overcast sunset. You can see the people in the field becoming more agitated, shifting back and forth and I start to get an uneasy feeling in my stomach. I instinctively reach for Annie’s hand, but then I notice him. Juan is in the parking lot of the club just a few feet from the field. I call out to him, but right as his name leaves my lips the sky goes black, and the pale people come running like a group of savage rabid animals let off their chain. I don’t even think before I take off running as fast as my heels will take me. I see one grab the back of his shirt and before I can reach him I am tackled to the ground. One of those things is holding me down and chomping it’s incredibly sharp teeth at my face. I am holding its shoulders and kneeing it’s stomach instinctively, but it doesn’t even faze it. I put my forearm on it’s neck to hold it’s head away from mine and reach my other hand down to take off my high heel. I feel it bite my arm and I scream before getting my shoe up and slamming it hard into it’s eye, *CRACK*, it lets out a ear shattering screech. I see blood, is it theirs or mine. It screams again before taking off toward the crowd. I see a hand and I reach for it, as soon as I have it I am pulled up and thrown over a shoulder. Next thing I know I am in the club, “Don’t move until I stop the bleeding, ok?” I want to respond but nothing comes out, the pain is too overwhelming, the blackness takes over and I lose consciousness. When I come to, I look around, I am in one of the V.I.P. Suites, the lights are turned down low, I sit up and look around but I don’t see anyone. I prop myself up so I can see out one of the tall glass windows. A warm searing pain hits me like a wave. I look down at my now wrapped arm, and remember the attack. I stand up to look out of the windows. I notice down below the doors are barricaded and a small group of people is gathered inside the club. Some are patching up others, some are on the phone I assume calling loved ones, and a few are laying quiet and still, hopefully sleeping. I hear a click from the door behind me. “What are you doing up? You should still be resting, we got the blood to stop but you lost quite a bit.” I turn around to see Juan walking in. I have never been happier to see him. “Are you ok!?!? I saw you about to be attacked!” I grab him in the tightest hug I can manage. “I am fine, I had a knife and the police had a great shot, I am more worried about you.” I can’t even speak anymore, all I want is to apologize for last night, and I can only think of one way. I grab him by the collar and pull him into me pressing my lips against his, he responds by wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me in close, I nibble on his lower lip before sliding my tongue in his waiting mouth. He pulls back slightly, just enough to speak, with his forehead against mine, “Is this what you want?” I can only smile as a small tear drops from my eye. “You are what I want, what I have wanted for a long time, I just don’t want to lose you, but I’d rather risk it then waste any more time.” He pulls me in for another kiss before gently placing me on his lap on the couch and wrapping his arms around me. I feel calm, and peace, I know I need to get up and find Annie, but first I decide to enjoy this moment.
