Abby DelaneyAbby Delaney wasn’t like most teenagers. As it was, she’d already experienced a lot more than most kids her age. Abby was only sixteen when she ran away from home. She’d left her mom and made the bold move of seeking her stepmother—the one who never knew she existed until that day that Abby turned up at her front porch.
With the help of Louise, Kate, and Sarah, it was fair to say that Abby had turned her life around. She could have easily become a statistic; a child on the streets of Portland. But she didn’t. She had Louise to thank for it; but mostly, it was Kate that was really able to get through to her. It may have been because they were closer in age. At the time, Abby was sixteen and Kate was twenty-five.
