Chapter 40 Louise DelaneyLouise woke to the sound of the baby crying in the next room. She peeled her eyes open and willed herself to see in the dark, shuddering at the chill in the air that kissed her skin. Reaching for the bedside lamp, she switched it on, and a soft light glowed. Louise got out of bed and put her robe on. The cries grew louder as she stood outside Kate’s bedroom. It was a good thing that Abby was at a sleepover at Shelby’s, otherwise, she would have woken up as well. She knocked and popped her head in. “How’s it going?” she asked.
