Chapter 44
Sarah GardnerToday was the day. Sarah was determined to turn her life around. She was going to get a job and take charge.
She got up extra early and did yoga. She wanted to wake the parts of her that have been asleep for the last year—both physically and metaphorically. After that, she showered and readied herself, then she got the children dressed and packed them all into the car.
“Where are we going?” Liam asked.
“Mommy needs to find a job.”
“I don’t want you to find a job, Mommy,” Noah said.
“It’s going to be a good day, kids,” Sarah looked at them from the rear-view mirror and slowly backed out of the driveway. “Today is going to be a good day.”
Kids in tow, Sarah entered every shop along Lighthouse Road. She introduced herself and handed in a copy of her resume.
