Frederick was extremely skeptical of Marcus's claim that he had information about Dmitri Volkove's location. Frederick did not understand how Marcus, a prisoner in a maximum security facility with no contact with the outside world except for his lawyer, could possibly have current information about where a fugitive was hiding.
But Frederick also understood that he had nothing to lose by listening to what Marcus had to say. Frederick arranged a video call with Marcus, and when Marcus appeared on the screen, Frederick could see that something had changed about him.
Marcus looked healthier than he had in their previous meetings, but more than that, Marcus looked like he was at peace. Marcus looked like someone who had made a decision and had accepted the consequences of that decision.
