The video showed Katherine in a detention room, bound to a chair, with a gun pointed at her head by a figure whose face was obscured by shadow. The figure spoke in a voice that Frederick did not recognize.
"Hello, Frederick," the voice said. "I am the person who is really in charge of the Syndicate. I am the person who has been directing Dmitri Volkove and all of the other operatives. I am the person who is now in control of Katherine Chen and who will decide whether she lives or dies. Your choice is simple. Within seventy-two hours, you will arrange for the release of Dmitri Volkove and Detective Morrison. You will arrange for their safe passage to any country of their choosing.
