Chapter 10: Sleep Now
Bonnie wished she could delay this moment, but she also wished she could instantaneously travel to the other side of it. As scary as this surgery was, she felt lucky that she would be asleep for it, that she wouldn’t feel the time as it passed. Tina, on the other hand, would have to sit through the whole thing, wondering, waiting, worrying.
The anesthesiologist joked with them, and Bonnie smiled along, but really she wasn’t in the mood for humor. All she wanted to do was look at her wife, memorize her face, carry that image into whatever place the anesthesia was about to take her.
