Chapter 9 Tired, frustrated, and feeling very lonely, Carl caught a cab. His first thought was a trip to a liquor store near his home. At the last minute, he changed his mind and went to Jeff’s house. He knocked softly and waited. Peg answered and smiled, giving her hardass father-in-law a hug. “Do you have any of the South African tea Jack’s friend drinks?” Carl thought for a moment. “Willem, the tea Willem likes. He made some for me once and I liked it.” Peg led Carl to the kitchen. “Willem made sure we were stocked, I’ll brew a pot now. Jeff and the kids are running a few errands.
