“Thank you so much for taking me to the best cupcake place in the entire world,” I said to Mara, who was arranging the books from the tallest to the shortest height at the romance section. I was standing behind her. The store was nearing to a closing but I liked hanging out with Mara because she basically wore her heart on her sleeve. “That was nothing.” She waved her hand off nonchalantly, as she sat down on one of the computer chairs, making herself comfortable. The only light that was lit was the one above us, and the rest was dim. There was silence engulfing around us, but it wasn’t the awkward one where words were necessary to be filled in. I thought Mara was some kind of person who was possessive over someone who never took an interest of her but it was simply the other way around.
