Malia~ The morning light stabbed through my curtains like it knew exactly how unsettled I was. My head throbbed slightly with the residue of last night’s chaos. My pulse still remembered Maverick’s touch, the spark that had shot from his fingers grazing mine. I swore to myself I would behave today, keep my distance, act normal and void any temptation. Easier said than done. Breakfast was a blur. Mum chattered about work, the latest magazine, and the way the cat had shredded her new throw pillow. I nodded along mechanically, barely tasting my toast, barely hearing her.
