The wilderness at night was the most active and terrifying. The demons became much more powerful while surrounded by an intense demonic aura. Many fierce beasts that had been hiding during the day came out to hunt for food. The demons ran rampant as their number was a dozen times more than those roaming during the day.
In contrast, the strength of the human martial artists was greatly reduced due to the decreased visibility at night. Therefore, unless they were forced to do so, ordinary caravans would not spend the night in the wilderness outside an inhabited city.
Not surprisingly, the sun sank below the horizon after the caravan had walked for four hours.
Darkness began to cover the ground.
