POV: Dual Maya: "You followed me." "Yes." "Why?" He didn't have an answer,which was the problem. The coatroom was at the back of the ballroom. It was small and dark with racks of fur and wool and cashmere. A single attendant who had disappeared the moment Maya walked in. She needed some fresh air and space. She wanted to stop feeling his grey eyes watching her on her face, her dress, and the exposed skin on her back. She had not expected him to follow. Julian closed the door behind him. His dinner suit was black with a crooked bow tie. His dark blond hair was slightly disheveled and His grey eyes were bright. He had been drinking. She could see it in the flush of his cheeks, the looseness of his shoulders, the way his hands were shaking. "You shouldn't be in here," Maya said.
