The mirror

Chapter 2

It was a bit chilly outside due to the rain that had fallen earlier. She had only spoken to Richard twice. Was it right to ask him for help? Maybe she shouldn’t she wanted to turn back and go back. Today was her birthday after all and she had tons of emails to reply to. But she couldn’t help get over the feeling she felt when she was close to that door. It was eccentric and full of energy there was something strange behind that door and she never noticed it before why today? Well it had just been two weeks since she moved it. It was normal not to notice it.

She had started school the next day after moving in. She guessed it was her mom’s doing, she must have sent the transfer letter earlier so she could have time to travel.

She bent and gave roofy a gentle pat

“ Do you think he’ll help I’ve only spoken to him twice, is it right to ask him for help now? Maybe we should just turn back.”

Roofy let out a loud bark and and looked at her with his big brown eyes.

“Oh well, it wouldn’t hurt to try, let’s go find out”

“Isn’t that jasmine the new girl from across the street coming toward our front yard?”

Richard’s younger brother jack said loudly with a mouthful of cereal. He readjusted his glasses which were way too big for his face.

“Yep that’s her, and she’s with her big brown dog”

“What! Where? Richard asked looking out the window.

“ what’s she doing here? Jack asked chewing loudly

“Maybe she needs help with homework from school”

“ And you think she’d ask you for help, why?” Jack mocked laughing

“Shut up and eat” Richard retorted “ I’ll go see what she wants”

He peeped through the door hole just to be sure, he started directly into her eyes. The were dark blue, he wondered if they were real or contacts. She was very pretty. Much prettier than the girls at his school and her long dark hair was too long for her. But it suited her a lot.she was in fact the most pretty girl in trident town if you ask him. He waited a bit before opening the door since she wasn’t knocking she just stood there talking to her dog.

“ what should I do roofy? Knock or ring the door bell?”

She didn’t have time to decide because the door opened immediately and she found herself starting into Richards grey eyes.

She swallowed hard and her throat suddenly felt too dry. The wind blew hard and she shivered a bit.

“Are you alright?” Richard asked looking directly at her.

“Yeah I’m fine just a lil bit cold”

“Okay, well would you like to come in?”

“ not really, I umm wanted to ask for your help that’s if it’s not much trouble.you know it’s Saturday morning and I don’t wanna spoil it for you....”

“ it’s okay I was just going to stay in bed and sleep all day so I don’t mind helping”

“ oh okay, umm there’s this door in our hallway and it’s jammed it wouldn’t open so I was actually wondering if you could help me with it.

“ sure let me just grab something from the garage, hey big guy he bent touching roofy’s ears who in return let out a soft bark what’s your name?”

“Roofy” jasmine offered.

Richard grabbed his tools and followed jasmine who led the way.

“Wait for me!” They both turned to see jack running after them. He stopped beside them panting hard.
