I was no longer attracted to the pulsating music and dance at the bar. My eyes were glued to the screen, watching the Elders' Council meeting.
Should I say Peter was too arrogant? He actually allowed the meeting to be broadcast live. Perhaps in his mind, replacing Herbert was a sure thing.
Peter had timed it perfectly, starting the meeting ten minutes early while Herbert was away.
