I woke up at the table surrounded by so many books. Before I fell asleep I believe I read about the history of the red moon. The Red Moon is pretty much the Pack that connects to the DNA and complete history of Life and creation of werewolves. And as a history buff, it was the hardest thing to stop reading, no matter how late it got. What I read so far bridged many religious historical tales and beliefs I never really believed in. All the religions of the world were so beautifully intertwined, that they created a tale that is, honestly obvious and mind blowing all at the same time. “God!,” The god I worshiped as a Christian for part of my life, before I walked away from the church. That god did help create the human race, with the help of his better half, his queen, the Universal Mother Parvgaia, Better known as Mother earth, or Mother Nature. Also His children, and the gods all created by The Entity. Only issue is we place all or most as fictional characters over who we consider “God”. All religions worship one maybe two of these gods, when it was done as a unit, as a family, that brought us all to be.
I think I was on chapter 2, when I fell asleep. While reading chapter one, I decided to map the religious and cultural connections to today’s religion’s. One thing that I was happy to learn, even though I always believed this, Black men and woman are the beginning. We are the products of God, even more so for the supernatural species. So much to the story of the beginning and I couldn’t wait to continue my readings. So, I picked up the books fully Intending to get back to studying and reviewing my notes, plus continue to the next chapter. At that time, while the book was still in hand, a over head alarm went off, and an announcement.
“Morning Blue Moon Pack, I know we usually do morning announcements via mind linking but do to a new guest we will be doing announcements via PA for awhile moving forward. We ask that everyone come to the cafeteria, and we will further discuss everything there.”
I jumped up so fast finally realizing how late it is and the fact that I haven’t even showered. Knowing I am the person in question they were referring to, and I’m no where near ready to meet anyone. I ran to the shower and got ready as fast as possible. I realized quickly my body moved in ways it never did before. I wasn’t unpacked at all, but it was easy to find and put on some simple sweats and a t shirt by just smelling the air. Then I ran out of my room and realized I have no idea where the cafeteria is. As I stood dumbfounded, Kai said to me,
“Use the gifts you were born with. Sniff the air, feel the breeze, follow your instincts.” At that moment I took a deep breath, and it was like I could see the map in my head of the entire blue moon pack house. I walked straight and took two lefts and a right before I walked into a massive dining room full of people. As I walked in all eyes fell on me. As an uncomfortable feeling spread through me, Carmen walked over to greet me, Smiling at me with a openness that felt just for me. “Welcome to the blue moon pack. Don’t worry people are just Curious about who you are.” Carmen said. I returned her smile and said, “I feel like a fish in a fishbowl.” We both laughed together when a towering figure came behind Carmen, hugging her from behind. She turned around, sure of who is behind her with the biggest smile on her face. Kai growls inside me, and the sound radiates through me. My body tightened and heat started to course through my veins.
“Whoa there! My name is Daquan, I’m Carmen’s, MATED, best friend and a child of the Red Moon Pack, like you, my alpha.”
He said to me, effectively calming my once growing agitation. I responded, doing my best not to look like the jealous freak I was being.
“Alpha!?” I laughed and continued, “No, not quite an Alpha yet.” Daquan looked at me, with knowing eyes.
“Lucas, Daquan was born in the Red Moon Pack. And like many of the other members of the Red moon, He has waited for you.” Said Carmen.
“Remember, You were born our Alpha! You may not feel physically ready, but you are the red moon alpha.” Daquan says to me with respect and adoration. I smile to my self and just nod in acknowledgment. We shake hands, not needing to say much more. Coming to a honest understanding, and liking of one another. Men are simple that way.
A few minutes later Beta Adam walked up to us all, “Great! You met Daquan. He will be your trainer. As Alpha John train you in the knowledge of being a Alpha, I train you in the history, culture, and traditions of the Red moon, Daquan will train you in fighting, and fighting as a werewolf.” I smiled to Daquan and nodded to Adam in understanding. That’s when I remembered the statement Adam, and Kai made about being near Carmen, and what that will do to my focus, to my mind. Just being near her now is already doing things to my body I’ve never experienced. It’s so hard to focus on becoming this “Alpha” that’s needed. I can’t become this person if I’m focused on Carmen, and undressing her slowly, seductively.
No, I have to create some distance. I have to do it for us, and for the future I wish to be capable to give her.
“Adam, Daquan can we get started I have a lot to catch up on. And I would like to get away from any and all temptations.” I said as I turned to Adam and Daquan effectively blocking out Carmen. I will make it up to her when I’m able to give her more time. Adam smiled to me knowingly, grabbed my shoulder and Steered me to the middle of the Cafeteria. As he pulled me from Carmen I locked my focus choosing not to look back. From the corner of my eye, I could see her reflection in the window that peers into the training grounds of the blue moon. A worried expression settles on her face, and Daquan seems to try and say something to reassure her. Then a really attractive woman, with long black hair, and strong yet warm brown eyes, hugs Daquan, and kissing him on his cheek as she takes Carmens hand. Carmen and her friend walk into the crowd that starts to form as Adam comes to a stop. Daquan flanks my right side, in a protective yet calm way, as Adam stays to my left. John walks out of the crowd of the blue moon pack members. John raises his hand silencing everyone, stoping all the whispering and wonderings of who I am.
“Welcome Blue Moon pack. Today is not only a joyous day for the Blue Moon Pack, and The Daughter of the Blue Moon, but also for the Red Moon Pack. Yesterday, Carmen Mated with a Lost Alpha Rogue. With obvious confusion and contempt, We soon discovered from Nancy Deacon, The new owner of the Matthews Clinic, That the name of the lost Alpha Rogue was none other than, Lucas Anthony Matthews. The lost Red Moon Alpha!”
A gasp echoed all around the Cafeteria, as all eyes lock on mine. Some eyes full of hope, others of fear and apprehension, and some with full distain. Despite it all I just stood there tall refusing to show any of the raging emotions running through me. Carmen came to her fathers side with the young woman who took her away before. With how Daquan looks at her, I surmised she is his mate, and Carmen’s best friend. John extended his hand, ushering me to him, and Adam pushed me forward. I walked the two solid steps that brought be to the Alpha’s side, as he continued his introduction speech.
“Lucas, as some of you know, was named Lucas after his father, Anthony after his mother Angel, and Matthews after the only parent he knew in his life growing up. Even though he will always be a Boyden-Adalwolf. Lucas was raised as the son of the Matthews, isolated from what and who he is for his safety. Due to the deaths of the Matthews he was brought to us later than was wished by his mother, Luna of the Red Moon. So, Blue Moon It is our duty to help, protect, and repair what the Red Moon has lost. Not only for the Brothers and sisters of the Red Moon, we have taken in. Who wishes to one day return to their home, but for my daughter, the future Luna of the Red Moon. Let’s not forget…”
“He is not My Alpha!” Someone bellowed from the crowd, cutting off Alpha John.
Daquan stepped forward, his eyes glowing and a angry grin on his face as he said, “Who said that! Who dared disrespect The Red Moon Alpha, and Alpha John with their interruption!” Alpha John laid his hand on Daquan shoulder, calming him. As Alpha John quietly spoke to Daquan, Daquan’s mate ran over to join them, grabbing Daquan’s hand. Beta Adam stepped forward to address the crowd! Obviously just as angry as Daquan but more in control, Beta Adam said in a calm, yet stern tone.
“Interruptions will not be tolerated. I’m sure some of you are over whelmed, after believing so long that the Red Moon Alpha was killed. But you must understand, As the laws of the Red Moon State, ONLY a person born under the Red Moon shall ascend to Alpha. If no such Alpha exist, the child born closest to the Red Moon Rise shall be considered Alpha!”
“Exactly!” A voice rang out loud and clear over the Cafeteria. Then a tall, Albino man walked forward. He was strong looking and held himself regally. He walked forward, with two Elders both equally as well put together, and extremely attractive as this man. They are obviously related, most likely his grand parents. As the Albino man started to speak, he walked closer and closer to me until he was right in front of me.
“I am Elias Akpan, son of the Beta of the Red Moon Pack, before the attack and the collapse. I was born a mer 24 hours before the Red Moon, and the birth of this Pup!” As he said this he just looked at me with such utter distain. His dislike and contempt for me just radiated off of his entire body. He just looked at me with so much disgust, that his face looked like he smelled the worst smell of utter s**t.
As he got closer, I realized I was taller than him by a few inches, but he did have more body mass than me. As he got closer, I straightened my stance and looked down at him, my eyes never leaving his eyes, with a air of nonchalance to try and mask the obvious anger coursing through me, and said.
“Too bad it wasn’t 24 hours later, then maybe your need to inflate your ego would be better received.” His eyes flared hot, as the crowd gasped, and I can see something trying to rise to the surface within him. He shifted his eyes slightly seeing every eye on us, so he breathed in deeply and stepped back slightly and said. “You know nothing of being a werewolf, let alone a Alpha, and you wish to lead a people you don’t know nor understand. First step to being a Alpha is knowing when your too weak to lead! And your two weak, not only to lead, but to be mated to Carmen.” Kai let off a Growl that released it’s self from my chest. But before I could respond, Carmen stepped in front of me, her stance rigid as she shook, slightly, from head to toe. She was Flanked by both Daquan and his mate, both with equal expression of anger. Just begging for Elias to say one thing that allowed them to rip him limb from limb. A worried expression past over Alpha John and Beta Adam, as they looked at how this situation developed. Carmen raised her hand to her father and Beta Adam assuring them that she has this under control and doesn’t need help here. Carmen began to speak, with a measured tone, of sureness and Authority.
“The Fact that you stand here, and in the same breath disrespect The Goddess Selene, Me, Alpha John, AND Alpha Lucas prove your unworthiness to lead anyone out of a paper bag. The Mating of two beings of the gods of creation is not to be questioned, Nor challenged. And you, you dear challenge Selene in her choice for my Mate. You have lived amongst the Blue moon your Entire life, and I am the daughters of the Alpha of the Blue moon. Remember I have come of Age just a few months ago, and as per my pedigree if you were ever worthy of me, my wolf, and my nose would of scented it. But all we smell is a man with delusions of grandeur, and blasphemy on his lips. You will remove yourself from our sight, and repent for the sins you committed here today. If you...” Then Carmen turned to the crowd and continued. “Or any of you for that Matter dear question me, Lucas, or the Goddess’s choice of my mate, and Red Moon Alpha. This will be settled in the ring, with your life as collateral to repay us for your sins.” The Room went quiet, as we all looked at Elias. Elias dropped his head, in respect to Carmen and said. “Sorry Lunette, I will not disrespect you or the goddess again. But understand he must prove to all of us in the Red Moon, he deserves the title of Alpha.”
Before Carmen, Alpha John, Adam, or me can respond Daquan stepped forward in a menacing way.
“Elias since childhood you have been un able to best even me, and I am far from able to be Red Moon Alpha based on my birth date. So in what way are you worthy. I will say this only one more time, since you chose to ignore Lunette Carmens warning. You will respect all who stand before you, or loose the throat you wish to spout ya ignorance from.”
The two Elders with Elias grabbed him and looked at us all with Horror and an obvious brewing anger, but rushed Elias away.
Carmen turned to me with a worry in her eyes and reached for me. For the first time since I met her, I didn’t want nor felt that I deserved her touch so I stepped back. I rushed away, at that moment using my new senses to smell for the workout room. I needed to release all this pent up anger, and aggression.
“How Dear he question our Power, does he have any idea who we are!? What we are destined for!?” Kai stated with a snarl in my head.
“No! I don’t believe he does, s**t neither do I really know. No wonder people question me, and have no faith in me. I barely know who the f**k I am!?” I said out loud to Kai. Before Kai could respond, a voice came from behind me.
“You have people who have faith in you, and what you don’t know can be taught. But this is your birthright. You are meant to be the Red Moon Alpha. You forget its in you, your wolf, your soul. And you will become the Alpha your meant to be, for Carmen, for you, for all of us.” Daquan said as he walked into the workout room and stood next me.
“You all fought my battle, you, Carman, Alpha John, and Adam. What type of Alpha needs protection. What type of man needs to be saved by his woman.” I explained to Daquan.
“First things first, Never say that again. For one Carmen will kill you. Female Werewolves don’t meet the gender norms of the mundane world. Some Luna’s are Alphas while the Alpha technically take on the work of a Luna. The titles are more ritual, but the way us wolves live, a she-wolf can very much run things. You know your mom was one of them. She was the chosen mate of your father, and still entered into the Red Alpha Mating Ritual, and won. So, Understand Carman speaking for you, no one looks down on you about. As for over all Alpha Protection, all Alpha’s have at the very least, a Luna, a Beta, a Gamma, and Pack Warriors all there to help protect and look after the Alpha, and his family. So no, protection is part of the title.”
I walked to a workout bench and took a seat. As Daquan’s words penetrated my thoughts, my understanding, I began to feel worse and worse.
“I know nothing about being a werewolf. Everything is so different than how I grew up. None of it makes sense to me! Just to give a small example, I’m from a world where s****l freedom is normal, but its not normal here. I was praised for being a virgin.”
Daquan looked at me, pensively, than abruptly started to laugh. He laughed so hard he held on to the weight bar for dear life as he tried to catch his breath and tears stream down his face.
“Well I’m glad I can make you laugh so hard.” I said a bit agitated for being laughed at. Daquan in an attempt to catch his breath held his had up and said,
“Sorry, let me explain.” I just looked at him as he caught his breath and tried to explain through his laughing fit. “You just proved how much you don’t know with a weird false equivalence.” Confused I just looked at Daquan encouraging him to continue.
“First, understand we are not like werewolves are portrayed in books, and movies. We don’t all hide from the world. We are brought up in the mundane world as much as everyday humans. We experienced the world just like you did, we just knew our family culture, and you didn’t. And trust me, the mundane world is far from Free in sexuality.” Daquan sat next to me before continuing.
“Most werewolves loose their virginity during there ascending. That’s when they meet their inner wolf on their 16th birthday. Now in the case of some Alpha’s, and destined mates of prophesies Alphas, now that is unknown territory, even for the average werewolf. Your situation isn’t the norm for werewolves. We’re free loving, equal opportunity, s****l deviants. And it’s actually abnormal for the average werewolf to wait for their destined mate. Let alone be a virgin when their 21. So you’re an over all anomaly. Your entire life is an anomaly, you and Carmen. So stop comparing your situation to the over all werewolf experience. Because your experience isn’t EVER going to be the same, or even what makes you a werewolf. You are one because you were born one. Not because you lived our life. And sorry to say this, even if we were raised in the Red Moon pack, you would have still experienced the world different then any other werewolf, because of who you are, not what you are.”
As I looked up at Daquan, chastised, yet happy that I spoke to him. I had to add my own barb in.
“Has anyone told you you’re a know it all before!?” Daquan laughed and said, “Yeah, but that’s because I do.” We both laughed together for a bit until I stood up. I took a deep breath ready to prove to everyone, and to myself I can do this. I turned to Daquan and said,
“Thank you! You really talked me off a ledge, your good at that.” Daquan smiled and laughed a bit.
“It’s a trait I picked up from my best friend. Your gonna love her.” Daquan laughed as he walked away.
“Now lets go, you got work to do, in the next week we are gonna push you to your limit. When were done, its gonna be like you haven’t missed a day, let alone years not being a wolf.” I c****d my head as a question came to the front of my mind.
“What was your family to mine in the red moon Daquan.” He smiled slightly but I can see I did hit a sore point.
“My Dad was your fathers Gamma. A Gamma is a Alpha’s 3rd in command. My mom was also you mothers first cousin. So I guess you can say we’re related.” I turned and looked at Daquan with fresh eyes and he did have the same face structure I knew too well. When I looked in the mirror, when I looked at Adam, and when I drew my mom. I walked up to Daquan and hugged him.
“Thanks, for being here. Thanks for helping.” Daquan a bit taken aback, smiled a bit confused, but responded.
“No problem bro, don’t get soft on me.” We both laughed off the awkward moment. I just couldn’t help myself. I’ve always wanted siblings, friends, people I can be my self around. And for the first time I have that, in a weird round about way, but I do have it.
“Okay, so I will work on your physical training, we need to bulk you up a bit before we get you to shift. And we need to get you to shift before your 21st birthday. Beta Adam and Alpha John will work with you on Red Moon history, and Alpha training. Today we will focus on stamina, the one thing you will need this next week. Because when we are done with you, on your birthday, you will be exhausted.” Daquan explained.
I smiled and laughed at him, and said, “Okay, Bring it!”
