Chapter 2: Alpha Mate Carmen’s POV

Today is like every other day, to start at least. I wake up do my morning run, letting Melania out. She’s huge for a female wolf! That’s probably why my dad believes I’m built for an alpha. Yet I’ve met every alpha and their all of Age. And we felt absolutely nothing for each other!

“We will find our mate!” Melania says to me.

“I truly hope so, my dad is kind of freaking out, me being 21 and all.”

At 21 we are able to sense our one true mate. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not unknown not to find your one true mate. On the contrary, in this day and age it is more common than finding your one true mate! The more we werewolf branch out and map the globe, the harder it is to truly find that one person, that’s just the world we live in today.

So, if that’s the case why does my dad still push me, you ask. Well, never have the next head of the blue moon pack, not be mated to their One True Mate. And I also think my dad is worried my mate died when the red moon fell, 21 years ago. My dad’s best friend and Beta, sister was Luna of the Red Moon pack, but he married and mated with my aunt Clarke a year before the pack was attacked. Because of that marriage, we were able to get some understanding of the Red Moon pack and their history, and when Beta Adam, joined us here in the blue moon he brought power we can’t explain. Now all blue moon pack members can feel the pain of the lost red moon pack rogues. And now we search for them all, and pray, at least one saved the life of the future alpha of the red moon.

Many believe he died during the attack, but I don’t know. I trust Beta Adam when he says the entire pack will feel it in their blood. That pack had so much mythical nature and power in them that it was even weird to us in the blue moon pack. And we aren’t normal Werewolves either. We are considered the healers of the mythical world. We are able to heal the wounds of any and every mythical

that exist not just werewolves!

This gift doesn’t come with just knowledge but also with a power of touch. When we touch something harmed yet innocent, our powers will heal whatever is wrong with it. Beta Adam once told me he can feel his nephew is alive but needs help. I wonder how much that’s true. But I do worry about him too, deeply. Sometimes I wonder why that is, but something just pulls me to think of him.

As the sun starts to rise, I run back toward the house.

“Something about today feels different Carmen, you should be on alert” Melania said to me

“Okay, do you know why” I asked Melania

“Not now, still fuzzy, but something or someone is calling to us” Melania responded

“Okay, I’ll keep my guard up, and take wolfs bane with me.”

“Smart, and where your gloves.” Melania told me. And it was a smart suggestion. Touching tends to dull my senses because my healing powers are always working. My powers are a bit stronger than everyone else, because no matter who I touch I’m drained and their healed. It’s weird, it’s like I’m the only one not in control of my powers. But my abuela once told me, “You’re not weak because you can’t control your powers, On the contrary it means you are more powerful than us all, and your powers are a higher calling”. She helps me come to terms of my need for gloves. So, I pack my bag with the necessities and get ready for my day.

I’m starting my first day at the Matthews clinic. A clinic used to help all the mythical creatures of the world. The medical/surgical clinic was owed by the respected Matthews, before their deaths a year ago, now it’s owned by their protégé, Nancy Deacon. Nancy is a Red Moon survivor who chose to stay with The Matthews as a Rogue. She says it was to be able to look after those who need help, and to look out for whoever in the Red Moon who was led astray. Hence is why she is now an honorary member of the blue moon, and my new boss. When Beta Adam saw Nancy, he was so happy, Nancy told him a few things that the red moon Luna said before she died, and he told me “It proves there are more of us out there! That she sent some of us around the world to protect her son. That means he lived.” it was the hardest thing for me not to say, “Yeah he survived the attack, which doesn’t mean he Survived almost 21 years of being hunted, by whatever attacked the Red Moon pack.” I wanted him to enjoy that happiness.

As I drove to the clinic I passed open Fields and Melania started to get shifty in my head. And the more I drove through this area the more agitated she got! “Melania please settle down, what is it!” Yet she never responds, just kept becoming more and more agitated. When I pull up to the clinic, she settled a bit. “Wow thank you for not driving me crazy!”

I’m met by Nancy at the door, and she smiles at me brightly.

“Carmen, it’s great to see you again.”

“Great to see you too Nancy.” I say smiling back at her.

“Well, since your just starting Med school, your internship will begin with administration, and nurse duties. Due to your abilities, I may use you for some of the different species that find their way here, but for the most part you will stay as Admin.”

“I understand, humans still come through here.”

“Exactly, so the more you advance in med school, the more your duties here will advance.”

“Great, so where do I start!” I say to Nancy a little too excited.

“Down girl, today you will shadow many people, first will be my head nurse Gladys, then she will take you to admin to work with Les, and I’ll pick up this afternoon for you to shadow me, after I see my nephew.”

“Your Nephew!?” I ask confused knowing Nancy’s family history and the attack on the red moon I was taken a back.

“Oh, yes not my actual nephew, He was the Matthews son, He has been like a little brother since we were a kid, but he is determined to consider me his aunt.” She laughs to herself. And continues. “His birthday is a week and a day away, and he’s coming to discuss a few things. Actually, I may need your help.” She lastly says to me turning and looking at me. And that’s when I saw the fear in her eyes.

“Is everything okay Nancy”

“Everything is fine it’s just I’m going to hit him with a lot of information. And I think your ability to calm others will be helpful.” She responded,

“Should I be involved, it seems like this will be personal.”

“Of course, and honestly this all would be coming to your family soon anyway, more importantly, Beta Adam.”

“Should I be worried!?” I asked Nancy,

“No Hun, honestly, we’re a little late tackling this, but Beta Adam has been given the information needed for him this morning and will be in around 2, and my nephew Lucas should be here around 1:30. Everything will become clear then.”

“Okay!” Then Nancy says to someone over my head. “Gladys take Carmen for training as discussed and then to Les in admin, and Carmen, I’ll see you at 2, okay.”

“Okay!” I responded but she was already gone. But as I turned around To Gladys, something hit me. In a little over a week, it will be the 21st anniversary of the attack on the Red Moon pack, and Lucas Adalwolf was the Alpha who died that day, and his son was born that night as the Red Moon appeared in the sky. Could Nancy’s nephew be the Red Moon Alpha.

As the day went on, Melania settled even more which helped a great deal. But that all went to Sh* t around 1:15, she started pacing again, making it hard to concentrate on what Les, head of HR, was telling me! Then that’s when the smell hit me! The smell of honey and cedar, a mouthwatering scent, almost like a male Cologne made for millionaires. The scent wafted into me punching the air out of my lungs. The smell was intoxicating, and it made it hard to keep Melania from taking control. I could feel her banging her head against my consciousness, pushing through. Les looked to me, “Are you okay, do you need something.” I responded the best I could, “I’m fine just lightheaded.” Les then insisted that I sit down and drink a cup of water. At that time, I leaned back and tried to control myself and calm Melania. But it was a losing battle, the more the smell wafted around me, the more out of control I became, and before I knew it Melania took over my human body, in a craze. She stalked the halls looking for the cause of the scent, then she kicked in Nancy’s office door. That’s when I saw him, I looked into the most beautiful eyes set into the most mouthwatering face I have ever seen. Deep Chocolate brown eyes, with a hint of amber that bleeds from the pupil to the Iris in thin streaks. They were the most beautiful, yet intriguing I’ve ever seen. My body became heavy and between my legs my P*ssy got wet. Then, before I knew what was happening, I was slammed against the wall, as he sniffed and licked me like a starving man, and my eyes rolled behind my head. And almost in unison, I pull back and me and Melania ask in shock, but as a question.

“Mate!?” And he responded in the deepest, sexist voice I’ve ever heard.

“Mine!”

And then his lips were on mine in a commanding yet amazing kiss, I felt down to my toes.

In almost no time at all and maybe forever, Nancy, my dad Alpha John, and Beta Adam commanded in unison! “STOP!” stopping us both in our tracks. At that moment Nancy says

“Thank God you guys got here early, this got way more complicated than I expected it to be!”

“Sorry, I wasn’t here earlier, and sorry my sister didn’t have enough time to think this through, goddess knows the damage this boys mental has endured, hiding all of this.” Beta Adam replied.

As everyone talked my dad placed me behind him in a chair, and Beta Adam approached the weird brown eyes hottie that just had his tongue down my throat. Then brown eyed hottie finally took his eyes off of mine and spoke,

“Wait, your sister! And you look like the photos of my mom Angel. Are you my uncle! You guys hid that I had family alive! Nancy what the f*ck, has everything I’ve known been a Lie” he yelled in a rush.

“No, not everything, just one thing, one big thing was kept from you and something’s connected to that could not be told to you.” Nancy responded

“And understand Nephew I was just as angry at first too, because I looked for you everywhere. Yet you were so damn close. Understand I’m angry, but I also understand why my sister felt this was best. It protected you. It protected all of us. I just wish I was let into the inner circle!” Beta Adam stated, while casting a deadly glance at Nancy.

“As I told you, I was a child when decisions were made. And I just followed those decisions. The Luna stated who ever attacked the Red Moon had to be Red Moon before, that’s why anyone who used to be Red Moon before the attack, that no longer were when the attack came to pass, wasn’t informed. And all the refugees of the pack were never told where the Alpha and Luna’s son will be or that he would be named after his parents.” Nancy replied!

“My Goddess, Lucas, you look just like your father, and you have you mothers’ eyes.” My dad stated looking at Lucas.

“I think he looks just like my sister actually; he just has his fathers pissed off face.” Beta Adam retorted. And laughed to himself.

Lucas than sits down, and places his head in his hands and said, “I’m happy my looks give you all such joy, but my head hurts, for the love of all that’s holy, can someone please explain what’s going on. I’m not normal already, and I think my meds need to be upped. This voice in my head is driving me to drink Nancy!” All head swing to Nancy, and she sits on the edge of her desk and starts to explain everything to Lucas.

“Lucas for 1 you do not have schizophrenia or bipolar! And the medication that was provided to you was Cultivated by your mother before you were born to hide your powers and keep them at bay, while you grew up in a world that would not understand what you are.” Lucas looked like he was about to speak, and Nancy holds up a hand!

“Lucas you are A werewolf, and not just any werewolf, you are considered one of the most powerful werewolves in existence. Your parents were the Alpha and Luna of the Red Moon pack, a Pack more powerful than most. And the day you were born you were named the next Alpha of that pack! You are the Heir apparent to your father’s business, and everything Red Moon but your life is still in danger.”

“I’m so confused!” Lucas stated

“I know your confused, I am too. Why wasn’t I told sooner.” Beta Adam asked Nancy.

“Because We all needed to be sure you were not the same person who sent the attack to Red Moon. The day that The Matthews finally knew you were clean, they were kidnapped, tortured and murdered. I had no idea who or why that happened, but I did know that it was connected to you. I had no idea in what capacity you may be involved. So, after speaking to the person who was the Matthews informant, I realized she was under someone’s mind control. So, after months of vetting and making sure everything was okay, I went back to the original plan. Get Lucas with the family that can teach and protect him, like he needs to be moving forward!” Nancy said

“Now that I know he is truly the Mate, of the daughter of the blue moon, it seems that the prophecy Angel spoke about is real. That means I know for a fact you will need to protect not only Lucas, but Carmen as well, and you’re bound by blood to do so.”

“Mates!?” Lucas asked.

“Mates, or one true mates, are when two werewolves are destined for each other. That’s why it’s pushed that we find them. Werewolves can be rather s****l creatures and finding your mate or a seasonal mate is usually something we do after 16-21 years old.” Adam explained.

“It’s even worse for you, I wonder how they kept you a virgin all these years, Red Moon alphas are not allowed to have s*x until their mated, and the fact you two scented each other before your 21, means you’re still a Virgin.” My dad stated without thinking. And the blush that covers Lucas’s face is the most adorable thing I have ever seen, and he looks to me for the first time since this conversation started, with a bit of shock and worry in his eyes as he states.

“Can mates hate you and never want you!?”

“No!” Everyone states with a bit of a laugh,

“Not unless your evil and plan on doing something crazy, Mates tend to work, the Moon goddess is good at knowing compatibility. And don’t worry we will get to explaining the moon goddess to you okay.” Nancy said, noticing the confusion etched on Lucas‘s face.

“Okay, well to answer your question in virginity, it was my choice to stay a virgin after talking to my adoptive mother, about finding that special woman, but I do find ways to release my hypersexual Urges with oral sex.” He says this by becoming more and more embarrassed, if he was any lighter, he would look like a tomato.

“We will discuss this more later okay.” Adam told Lucas with a little laugh.

The next 2 hours, which felt like my entire 21 years of life, we explained and detailed being a werewolf, the history of the Red Moon pack, and how his family was really killed. We answered any questions he had but he was apprehensive the entire time. He wasn’t easy going through it all, and to some extent you can see he didn’t fully believe us. Then Nancy walked up to Lucas, took an onyx bracelet off of him, stripping something off of it, and put it back onto him. He started to look sick, and you can see many things were happening at once.

“What did you just do to him” I jumped up and asked,

“Took off the last dampener his mother gave him before she passed, to give him complete access to his powers. Maybe feeling all his powers will help him believe us. “Nancy stated

“Understand, you have not experienced any of your powers to the extent that you are now, your entire life. The pain and confusion will be unbearable for a few weeks, so take it easy.” Adam explained to Lucas.

“We should touch him Carmen, and we should know my mates name.” Melania tells me.

So, I offer to everyone.

“I can touch him to help heal a bit of it, and maybe help him meet his wolf”

“That may work.” Beta Adam states,

“Why would that help?” Lucas asked

“Because I am kind of special too, I have the ability to heal almost anyone as long as a person isn’t harmed while harming another. And not just physical wounds.” I explain.

As I walked over to Lucas, I can see the Myriad of emotions play through his eyes. From apprehension, fear, sadness, happiness, then lust, as his eyes drift to my mouth.

I laugh, and say, “Down boy! Now breathe deep, this will feel weird, but I’ll be doing this with you. So don’t feel worried, you’re not alone.” he nods his head in acknowledgment. I take my gloves off and touch him with both my hands around the neck and we’re thrown into his subconscious. There I see a dark black wolf in chains as I stand there with Melania and Lucas. Lucas looks scared and Melania runs to the wolf side and licks its face. The wolf looks to her and smiles in a very wolf like way. I laugh, and grab Lucas’s hand and bring him to his wolf.

“Lucas this is your wolf, you have him chained in your mind. Because of the medications and your refusal to except what we told you, and what you are.” I tell Lucas

“Talk to him, he is a part of you like Melania is a part of me. He is your friend, and teammate. He is the one entity, other than me, that will ALWAYS be there for you, open your heart to him.” Lucas breathes deeply. Then he drops to his knees in front of the wolf to bring his head to the wolfs level. “I’m sorry I have you chained up. Are you the voice that’s been in my head since I was 16?” The wolf looks to me then to Lucas and speaks.

“Thank you, my Mates, for bringing me my other Half, he has been truly stubborn through the years.”

Lucas blushes again, I laugh because it seems to be a trend for him. He runs his fingers through his head and say, “I truly am sorry, how do I let you free.” The wolf licks Lucas face and speaks. “Wish to Know me, know me like you know yourself, and I shall be free.” Lucas laughs and speaks.

“Funny, I’ve always wanted a dog, and all this time you were just in me.” he laughs, while the wolf rolls his eyes.

“What’s your name? Or do I name you?” Lucas asks.

The chains fall from the wolf, and he stands tall, and says, “My name is Kai.”

Lucas stands and says,

“Nice to finally meet you, Kai!”

We both open our eyes at the same time. Lucas looks to me in adoration and fondness.

“Thank you, so much Carmen. I feel whole for once in my life.”

I kissed him on the cheek and say to him

“It’s no problem at all.” He leans down the me and kissed me softly and leans back and says, “Now I can’t wait to get to know you, mate!” He says with a sweet smile.

“Ditto!” I said with a smile,

“Well, I guess now to the next on our agenda, moving you to the Pack house.” My dad says

“Wait what!” Lucas said.

“We need to train you and get you to learn more about your past. It’s just easier if you lived in the pack.” Adam states.

“I guess that makes sense.” Lucas states while everyone gets up to walk to the door.

“Before you leave, take this.” Nancy says,

“This is everything your mother left for you, with information on the prophecy and journals for you to get to know your parents.” Nancy passes Lucas a duffel bag, that he takes, and he thanks Nancy and gives her a hug. Lucas looks to the rest of us, and says,

“Guess it’s time to go home and Pack, would you guys be coming with me.”
