Ariana's head throbbed as she pieced together the night's chaos. The mysterious man, the threats, Léa's danger... it swirled like a vortex.
Alessandro's car cut through Monte Carlo's winding roads, headlights slicing the dark. Ariana's grip on the seat tightened.
"Alessandro, what's going on?" she demanded.
Alessandro's eyes stayed on the road. "Léa's missing. I got a message she was taken."
Ariana's heart plunged. "Taken? By who?"
"Don't know. But the message said you'd lead them to her."
Ariana's mind raced. The boathouse. The man.
"We need to go there," she said.
Alessandro shot her a look. "No. Too dangerous. You're going somewhere safe."
Ariana's anger flared. "I'm not hiding. Léa's in danger."
The car braked hard. Alessandro turned, his expression intense. "You trust me?"
Ariana's instincts said yes. "What do you know?"
"Léa's a friend. I've been watching her... watching you."
Ariana's skin pricked. "Why?"
Alessandro's gaze locked on hers. "Because you both have secrets. And someone's using them."
The car surged forward. Ariana's thoughts swirled.
Léa's face flashed in her mind. Be careful tonight.
Ariana's jaw set. "Take me to the boathouse."
Alessandro's voice was low. "It's a trap."
Ariana's smile was cold. "Good."
The car's speed increased. Dawn crept closer. Ariana's phone buzzed. A message from an unknown number: "Dawn. Boathouse. Come alone."
Ariana's heart skipped. They wanted her.
Alessandro's eyes narrowed. "They're watching."
Ariana's gaze scanned the shadows. "We'll be ready."
The car turned onto the jetée. The old boathouse loomed ahead, dark and ominous.
Ariana's pulse surged. Léa was in there.
Alessandro killed the engine. "Plan?"
Ariana's mind was clear. "We go in. Get Léa. End this."
Alessandro nodded. "I've got your back."
They slipped out, shadows merging with night. The boathouse loomed closer.
Ariana's phone buzzed again: "Alone, Princess."
Ariana's smile was grim. "Let's do this."
They crept to the entrance. Alessandro's hand on her arm stopped her.
"Wait."
Ariana's heart pounded. A figure emerged from the shadows.
Léa.
Ariana's relief was instant. But Léa's eyes were wild, fearful.
"Ariana, no!" Léa whispered.
Ariana's instincts screamed. "Léa, run!"
A figure stepped from the boathouse. The man.
"Welcome, Princess," he said, a gun pointed at Léa.
Ariana's world narrowed. "Let her go."
The man's smile was cold. "You know the deal."
Ariana's mind raced. Alessandro's presence was a silent reassurance.
Léa's eyes locked on hers. "Ariana..."
The man's voice cut in. "Decision time, Princess."
Ariana's heart pounded. What would she do?
The man's gun pressed to Léa's temple.
Ariana's voice was ice. "I'll do it."
The man's smile widened. "I knew you'd see reason."
Ariana's gaze never left Léa's. "Let her go. Now."
The man nodded. Léa was pushed forward. Ariana caught her, pulling her to safety.
As they stumbled back, the man raised his gun.
Ariana spun, pushing Léa behind her. "Run!"
A shot rang out. Pain seared Ariana's arm.
Alessandro's voice roared. "Get her out!"
Ariana's vision blurred. Léa's scream echoed.
And then, darkness.
Ariana's eyes flickered open. Pain. Disorientation.
Léa's face swam into focus. "Ariana..."
Ariana's voice was weak. "Léa..."
Léa's tears fell. "I'm sorry. I didn't—"
Ariana's hand found Léa's. "Safe. You're safe."
Alessandro's voice came from the shadows. "We need to move. Now."
Léa's grip tightened. "We'll get you to a doctor."
Ariana's smile was faint. "What... what happened?"
Léa's eyes were haunted. "You took a bullet for me."
Ariana's mind cleared. The man.
"We need... to end this," Ariana whispered.
Léa's jaw set. "We will."
Alessandro stepped closer. "We have a plan."
Ariana's gaze locked on Léa's. "Together?"
Léa nodded, a fierce glare in her eyes. "Always."
The room darkened. Ariana's vision narrowed.
And in the shadows, a new game began.
Ariana's grip on Léa's hand tightened. "What's the plan?"
Alessandro's eyes gleamed. "We draw him out. Use you as bait."
Léa's head snapped up. "No way."
Ariana's smile was cold. "He wants me. Let's give him a show."
The shadows seemed to twist. "Tonight. Midnight. The Casino Royale."
Ariana's heart skipped. The man's voice, echoing...
Léa turned to Ariana, her eyes searching. "What are we walking into?"
Ariana's voice was barely above a whisper. "I don't know."
Léa's fingers intertwined with Ariana's. "We should be scared."
Ariana's gaze locked on Léa's. "But we're not."
As they stepped into the night, the city's lights blurred. They were playing with fire, but the sparks were electrifying.
And in the darkness, a whispered promise: "This is just the beginning."
Their hands still entwined, they vanished into the shadows, unaware of what they had just stepped into.
