“You want me to kill a member of the Sorcerer Parliament itself?” I said.
“You catch on quickly,” said the vampire. “So? What do you say?”
“You’re acting like I would even consider doing that,” I said. “I don’t know how this works in the vampire world, but among humans, we sometimes repeat what we heard because we thought we misheard it because of how crazy and unbelievable it sounded.”
“Oh, I have no doubt you’ll agree to it,” said the vampire simply. “After all, you care about Lucius more than anyone in the world, maybe even more than your own father. You’ve been pining for him for the past month, worrying ceaselessly about his wellbeing, so it is only logical that you would agree to work for someone who claims they can help him.”
