On the Friday morning four weeks after Doug Clarke’s murder, the team gathered in the squad room to discuss the case and map out their next steps.
‘I want you to dig into the background of the poker players, Wayne,’ said Carl. ‘We need to know who they’re working for. Someone’s got to be giving them the cash and they must be funnelling it back somehow.’
‘No sign of them at the casino last night,’ said DC Paterson. ‘We must have spooked them.’
‘Find out who they’re talking to,’ said Carl. ‘Get their call logs, Lisa.’
‘Right, Inspector.’
‘Gail Swan appears to be connected to whoever killed Doug Clarke,’ said Carl. ‘The blood on the clothing found at her place in Ashcroft is Clarke’s, and Forensics have a DNA profile of the male person who was wearing the shirt prior
