Sweat, Pain and Anger

Alice closed her eyes and she was almost not able to open them again, a high-pitched sound prevented her from hearing the concerned voice of Nicki, she looked up at the sky, it was clear blue with a few clouds, she knew she had a contusion, but she did not want to move at all, in the numbness she was painless. She was about to faint, but she tried to stay awake. 

Nicki´s face blocked her view of the morning sky, she truly looked at her, her clear eyes were darkened by her dilated pupil, her lips were well defined and her skin looked soft and silky, her short hair framed her face like a halo, Ali knew she had never seen her like this before, she extended her hand and, by a miracle, she was able to feel her cheek and touch Nicki´s face as a weak “beautiful” leave her lips. 

Red palpitating blood rushed to her face as Alice's hand touched her, Nicole hold her breath in panic but she quickly recovered as she took Ali into her arms and rushed her to the clinic she kept saying to her to stay awake. 

- Look at me!! Ali don´t faint!! - she yelled all the way until she put her on a hospital bed and cry for help

She was floating, weightless and her head constantly felt like it was falling into the nothingness, that made her stomach tied up in a painful knot, she did not know it, but she was moaning in the bed, she had a bruise in almost every part of her body and needed a few stitches here and there. 

A few hours passed by before they let her fall asleep, earlier they were having a training session with Alex and Frank, they gave Alice a special pair of gloves to protect her hands while training to land hits and kicks, but when they pass to a "friendly" fight with Alex that ended in Ali flying back and landing on her back with a noisy and loud sound.

- She is an animal!! - Nicki yelled silently while holding Ali´s bruised hand - You cannot expect me to see her getting this hurt and not turning all Beta mode to save my Alpha. 

- She need to train for real, she has no skills or muscules or anything to work with, it is just normal that they beat her hard - Caleb said in a whisper

- She does not have her wolf yet! - Nicki was getting really angry - And they are having her doing an exhausting workout and then fight against your Betas, that, by the way, are stronger warriors than the ones we have in our pack!! - Nicki felt her fangs grow in her mouth as she tried to recover the inner calm she added - Frank is stronger than my father for crying out loud! 

- Calm down - said Caleb raising a hand in peace - let´s gave her all weekend to rest and then, Monday morning I will train with her. No hitting, no workout. Okay? 

Nicki nodded her head recovering her peace and Caleb left the room, Nicole snort and frowned to the back of him as he disappeared into the hallway. When she turned she saw Ali´s big eyes looking at her with a big smile in her lips. She blushed a little with that look and turned around to find something imaginary to calm her heartbeat, she silently thanks her that Ali did not have her wolf or she would be able to hear her heart trying to leave her body. 

- I am fine - Ali said with a raspy voice - the workout is hard, but it helps me get rid of all the hate I have inside

- I know, but you got yourself a contusion in the process 

- It is only until I have my wolf, then... well, I guess I´ll be strong enough to resist

- You have only been training for a few days, please, take it slower - Nicki sat next to her and avoided seeing her when the next words came out - I saw El... Luna Elyon today - she mumbled - she asked for you, she has already seen Bea, she has a room next to this one. 

- uuummm - Ali mumbled, she had not been strong enough to go see her mother, she did not know about the scars on her face

Both went silent for a while, a doctor came in to release her after a while, when they left the room they saw the distinctive hair color of Elyon´s hair, she was sitting outside on a bench looking at the small garden outside the clinic, Ali walks straight to her, she was feeling tears in her eyes but did not want them to run down. 

Elyon was looking at the flowers and how the wind softly make them dance, she never taught to be here, in his brother's pack again, she wasn't able to call it hers anymore, and she felt like a stranger here. She saw all the familiar things and places, but she was not able to see anything that made her feel comfortable. Her body was aching, she looked down at her dress and saw a little wet pool on her chest. Tears ran down her face as she saw that her body was still expecting something she was not able to have.

A warm hand lay on Elyon´s shoulder and when she turned a pair of eyes identical to hers receive her with tears threatening to fall from the full long lashes, but now, the perfect face of her beloved daughter was scarred, she broke into despair and a loud cry came out of her. With a sob they went into each other’s arms, they embrace strong and trembling they remain without moving for the longest time ever. 

Nicole gave them space, she stood a few steps away from them, she felt the need to remain close to her Alpha, not only for being her Beta but for other reasons she still could not say out loud. Suddenly she felt that she was being watched by Ali, she had her eyes red and a little bloated. Her hand extended to make her come close. The three women sit on the bench, without knowing what to say. 

- I am sorry - said Elyon - forgive me

- Mom, I have nothing to forgive you for - Elyon touch Ali´s face in the side that the deep scars harmed her face

- Yes, I have a lot to be forgiven for - she said - I should´ve been better, it was my duty to bring an heir to the pack and I didn´t, Caleb told me that I can´t go back, but you need to help me, I need to go back, I need to ask Joseph to forgive me, I…

- Mom, NO - said Alice - he almost killed you, he is the one that should ask to be forgiven

- No, he is right, I wasn't good enough, but now I will, we need to go back, we need to tell him… 

Nicole stopped hearing them, and for a second she felt like she was seeing the scene from far away, she remembered the last time Beatrice spoke to more than one person at a time, she was almost five years old. It was a normal day until the pregnancy test was negative, in the middle of the garden, in front of the packhouse, Luna Elyon was hit, thrown into the mud, and kicked while Alpha Joseph was yelling at her and turning into a wolf, Elyon was crying, she had bruises all over her body. 

Before that moment Bea was a normal pup, she was happy, when she saw her mother on the floor she ran to her, and Joe, half-wolf, half-human, leaned in front of her and roared in her face. His father, Rod, she and Peter came running in, Nicki curled Bea into her arms and ran the other way, Pete picked Elyon and led her to the house, and Roderick half transformed into a wolf to push Joseph back.

Elyon, that day, looked like she did right now, she was too thin, her eyes looked too red and shiny for all the crying and her eye bags looked like bruises and her face, she was trembling, her hiccup and sobbing was cutting her words in half. She looked ill, mentally and physically. 

Alice hold her hands strongly and said firmly: “I went to my uncle Caleb a few days ago, I am going to challenge my father”

Elyon opened her eyes widely making the rest of her face looked too small, she held her breath in terror and her bottom lip trembled while looking at her daughter, “Mom” Alice continued, “Joseph has been abusing all the pack, he is hurting my family and our pack, he almost killed us both and Bea is still deeply hurt by him. I cannot let him win mom”

- nooo... nononononono.....nooooo - she was in panic, she couldn't make a complete sentence, seeing her mother like that broke Ali´s heart and Nicki drop a tear before moving to help. 

Nicki stood up and took Elyon´s shoulders, she moved her so she followed her, softly led her to her room in the clinic, and laid her on the bed. 

- El… L - Luna, please rest - she said and hit the button to call a nurse. 

Nicki and Ali left after a nurse came in and gave Elyon something to fall asleep, they went to the packhouse, eat something, and went upstairs, Ali took a shower while Nicki went over to see Bea, she was staying with Nani in a room next to her´s, she said hello in sign language, that was something that was helping them, Bea felt safer this way, they were playing with some dolls when Ali came in, Nicki had to close her eyes when the sweet perfume of her wet hair hit her hard. 

This was the reason she was avoiding this kind of interactions all week, Nicki left the room and locked herself in the bathroom, the steam of Alice´s bath was still floating like a veil, for an eternal minute she sat down and inhale the lovely and relaxing smell, she then took a long shower to relax. 

- Tell me the truth - Nicki jumped and almost dropped the towel she was using to dry her hair

- umh? tru-th? - she asked with her voice trembling

- Why are you acting weird? - Ali asked, leaving Nicki's mouth open and speechless - Sorry, I mean, why are you not calling my mom Luna anymore? 

- oh… that - Nicki blushed vivid red and then sat down on the bed - ....She.... she is not my Luna anymore - she left herself fall in the bed and was lost in her thoughts for a moment - Ali, a pack cannot exist without an Alpha, when we left BloodMoon we left on the promise of a new Alpha, Alpha Alice…

- so… I must find my mate so you can have a Luna? - Ali let herself fall next to Nicki on the bed, she laid belly down so they could see each other's eyes - it sounds weird, how can a she-wolf have a Luna?... - they both sight and a knot pressed Nicki´s stomach - I needed to be a guy, I am a disappointment in every way, even in just being me. 

- Don´t say that - Nicki straightened up in bed - You are the best person I know, we bow to you in order to protect you, Bea and Elyon, and the other ones that came with us

- Nicki, please, promise me something - Ali extended her hand to touch Nicki's face making her heart skip a beat and her hold her breath - If I fail, if I die, take the pack, become the Alpha, you are stronger, I know I cannot give it to you like that, but please, take care of them

- Alice, you need to take that away from your head, you are not gonna die - she took the hand on her face, and squeezed it hard - You need to prove to Joseph that you are the right Alpha, the right one. 

Alice dropped a few tears and before Nicole could react she threw herself into a tight embrace with her. Nicki felt every sense in her body go crazy, her heart feeling light and heavy at the same time and her head losing a sense of time “Be with me, please, I cannot do this without you” the soft whisper from Ali gave her a goosebump that shook both of them. 

Nicole held her, one hand holding her back and the other her hair, “Never.. I will be here always”, Ali felt the air from her words run through her scalp and felt something she never felt before, her gut flipped and her body felt like electricity running in all her nerves, she remained motionless and waiting for the feeling to pass. Suddenly, she felt the soft fingers of Nicki caressing her back and head, the unease become a sea of peace, a full sense of relaxation came over to drown her, she fell asleep in her arms and a soft smell of the sea and fresh-cut grass led her to a sensation of floating in a cloud of tranquility. 

Nicky let her guard down by the sudden closeness of Ali, she has been avoiding contact from her, but now she was being crushed by the comforting weight of her, she let her nose rest near her hair to inhale her sweet smell and a sense like she was slowing evaporating and condensing in Alice body let her relax and let go all her muscles, Ali´s heartbeat was like a lullaby to her, she let it lulled her to sleep as she felt that their bodies fit one into the other softly.

They did not know what was happening to them, but they surely needed a night of deep sleep. Ali would forever remember this night as the first one where she did not have any nightmares or dreams at all.
