****OUT SHOPPING ****
Five days had past since the wedding, life in the palace was quite boring. Malik became scares in the palace, I got the feeling that he was purposely avoiding me. Not that I wanted his attention but being confined in that place was tedious I just wanted to talk to someone other than mother and granny. I missed Zoe so much it felt like I had not seen her in ages.
I felt suffocated there with granny breathing on my neck every single day. She wouldn't stop raving about how much she couldn't wait to hold her great grandchildren like I was some baby making machine that needed to start popping babies as soon as possible because she wasn't getting any"Younger". As if that wasn't enough, she went as far as giving me tips on how to get Malik to have s*x with me, girl...... I felt so embarrassed I wanted the earth to open up and just swallow me.
Aunt came to see me twice since then. We talked about the Naomi issue and she assured me that she wasn't going to be a problem. Not that I wouldn't be able to handle her if she tried to pull a stunt with on me. Though she was like super arrogant and annoying, I still felt for her. Her dreams of being with Malik where shattered when I showed up, she must have had high hopes for their relationship and they all ended in demise because of me. Anyways, she knew they were never going marry each other.
Aunt adviced me to end things with Omar as soon as possible becauseit would be bad for my image if anyone were to find out. Flipping through the magazine pages I decided to call him and try talking to him but he didn't pick my call. "Sh*t! " I muffled, little did I know that mother was standing behind me. "At some point we will have to talk about your unrestrained use of language. It's very unruly. " There we go. I was wondering when they were going to start teaching me some manners. Ha haha! Just kill me now instead.
Sheepishly glancing at her I bite on my lower lip. Should I say something or just keep quit? I thought. "I do not blame you dear, you grew up in Fin city. It's understandable." She continued. Befor marring Malik, I thought i would have to change a few things but I never imagined that my upbringing would be blamed for the way I lived my life.
Sure enough, my way of life was different from theirs but I thought they would let me adapt naturally. I agreed with her and made up an excuse to live for my bedroom. I wasn't ready to have that kind of conversation. I lived in Fin city my whole life and I had no idea what life had in store for me, my aunt Liza raised me to be an independent young woman not a well mannered and reserved princess or Queen. So yes I was kind of offended by her comment. They were expecting too much from me. Wanting me to change everything about myself while they remained the same and sacrificed nothing for me was kind of unfair.
I received a call from Malik saying that I'd have to go shopping for a dress for tonight on my own because he was tied up in a meeting. Oh my God the party tonight. I had completely forgotten about that. A party was being host to properly introduce me to the people. Apparently having my coronation would endanger everyone because they would have to open the gates to everyone in the kingdom and that was far from happening as there were people revolting against Malik.
Opening the door to his study I took the his bank card as per his instructions and went out to find Larry the driver already waiting for me. I was going with only him to keep a low profile, The people didn't really know me so I thought it was best not to attract any unnecessary attention. We drove off to the Mall, Balito was quite beautiful. I was fascinated by the scenery on the way to the mall. They had freaking mountains, I'd never seen those up close. It was exciting I wished Zoe was with me to see everything.
Larry parked the car then we went inside the mall, it was huge but not more than the one we had in Fin city. I wasn't comparing or anything, Im just saying. Since I wasn't familiar with the place Larry led the way and helped me find a*****e that sold beautiful night gowns. I went in and searched for a while until I found the one, it was a black missord off shoulder marmaid tale sequin that fitted me just perfectly. I didn't really care if they were going to think it was revealing or not, it was just the shoulder anyway.
For shoes I went for a matching open toe diamond stiletto which I was going to dread the whole evening but it was my night and I wanted to look my best. After that I decided to shop for everything else I was contemplating on buying, from underwear to clothing and shoes. I was swiping that card like a mad woman and I enjoyed every bit of it. I was surprised I had not received a call from my dear husband but then again the card had no limit whatsoever so I guessed it was loaded because I shopped until we ran out of hands to carry the bags.
"I should do my hair as well. " I thought as I walked pass a beauty pallor . I went in and got a new hair style and did my nails. Honestly it was too savage of me, we'd been married for less than a week and there I was spending his money like I made it but I figured Malik would want me to be happy and spending his money made me the happiest woman. If he were to ask later I was going to tell him that I was bored and make him feel guilty about avoiding me. Hah! Shameless.
Larry and I drove home after forcing him to grab a bite at some restaurant with me. My stomach was literally growling and he wanted to stand there and watch me eat, weirdo. We finally made it home around 4:21pm, mother was already waiting for us in the foyer. "Meera, where have you been?" she sqized me into a hug. Right. I forgot to tell her I was going out. The way she was hugging you'd swear she thought I'd been abducted or something. "I went to the mall, I'm sorry I forgot to tell you." I said getting out of her embrace.
"I told you she was okay. " He said with that ridiculous smirk on his face, his mother sneered. Gosh... he was so sexy. He looked like he just got back. The servants came and took my bags upstairs, I followed after them but they suddenly took a turn in the opposite direction to my room. "Guys, my room is that way." They continued walking and then one turned back to me and said, "Your grandmother gave us instructions to move your belongings to his highness's bedroom. " What? Nobody said anything to me about that. Granny. That old woman wasn't going to rest until Malik and I were mated.
I was in such a good mood I wasn't going to let that get to me, so I brushed it off and followed the servants to Malik's bedroom. The room was quite masculine, there was a huge king sized bed with a wooden headboard, I didn't really know any kinds of wood but it was very manly. The whole room was nicely furnished very modern too.
I sat on the bench at the end of the bed. The roo was bigger than I thought. On the far right side of the room was a mini lounge which surprisingly did not have a TV set. There was a sliding door that led to a balcony "He must have the best view of the palace from there." I thought. I didn't even the servants weren't there until they came out of what I assumed was a walk-in closet. I was exhausted from all the shopping but I wanted to see how it look so I went in.
My jaw literally dropped on the floor when my eyes set on the rows of suits to casual wear, shoes, ties and all sorts of male accessories. Exactly how rich were the Bahams? I wondered if there was something else they did except ruling the whole of South Azania. Opposite to my view was other rows of clothing. My clothing, but there was more than I owned. Designer clothes and shoes I would not buy even if I had ton sh** of money at my disposal because they were just unreasonably expensive.
"I asked Tamara to help me out, do you like it. " Malik's voice startled me. I turned to face him. "Yeah, it's amazing. Whose Tamara?" i replied with a question of my own. "She-she's my assistant." He replied with a chuckle. He must have thought I was being jealous or maybe I was. Who was she to chose clothes for me, not that I didn't like them but damn! The woman had an expensive taste or maybe Malik did, she just help with what would be great on me. Whatever, I wanted to know who she was.
"Is the king allowed to have a female assistant?" I shot him a look. He chortled which I thought was annoying because he really wanted to know. "Yes." I glared. "She assists me at the office, I'm not always around to take care of things so she takes care of some things on my behalf." he finished. "I knew it, I knew there was more. " I blutterd without even thinking, Malik on the other hand just looked at me like it was something I should have known already. I must have looked like a complete i***t at that moment.
Awkwardly clearing my throat I muttered, "Okay" living him behind. No need to continue this conversation.
