The morning sunlight should be comforting, yet it made my physical and psychological state that much worse. I hadn’t slept at all the entire previous night and had watched movies back-to-back, yet they never had the power to drown the constant thrum of fear that swirled in my head. I didn’t feel comfortable here. I pulled the blinds half ajar and squinted against the sun in the street beyond my feet. Cars crept slowly along the street and strangers passed along the sidewalk.
