The question bothered me as I attempted to keep myself focused on what I had to accomplish. I could not afford to mess things up right now, not when Lucas had returned. His presence alone could be sufficient to cause me anxiety, but there had to be calm like as if I had not sacrificed days and days waiting for his homecoming. Throughout the day, there had been head down, back-to-back meetings, staring at reports and answering emails. I tried avoiding unnecessary conversations, especially with Lucas.
