The first signal that all was not well arrived in a seemingly innocuous email. It was evening, I was alone in the office closing shop, doing some report work when I received a beep from my email. The subject in the email sounded peculiar: “Are you certain you understand with whom you are dealing?" I scowled, hesitantly clicking on it. There was no message, just a single attachment. I opened it unwillingly in spite of myself. The document itself was also a scanned copy of a birth certificate.
