Anna
"Anna, where the hell are you? How dare you leave your job to run off and mess around?" Helena snapped as soon as she picked the call
I cleared my throat. "I'm sorry. I had to rush to the hospital."
"What's that good for nothing rat saying this time around?" I heard my step sisters voice snapping from the background of the call. "She always has one excuse or the other. I'm really sick of her."
"And what exactly is going on in that hospital hunh!" My step mother snapped.
"My father has woken up from his coma." I said excitedly. "I had to go and_"
"What's my f*****g business with your good for nothing father? " She cut in sharply. "You think I care if he lives or dies? He can rot in hell for all I care. But you had the guts to leave this house in this filth and rush out to see him. Since you don't care about this job, you're fired! "
Anger rushed through me at the injustice of it all. "You're mistaken. That thing wasn't a job, it was a slave arrangement! You didn't pay me a dime and even though you promised to foot father's bills, you didn't. You lied to me."
She let out a loud bark of laughter. "Oh really? And what are you going to do about it, hunh? Once your father dies, I can finally get the rest of his life insurance."
What? My eyes widened. "How can you be so heartless!" I cried. "My father built a business for you, he treated Mia like she was his own."
"Because he knew his own daughter was worthless." My step sister giggled in the background.
"Better get your ass back here and beg for your job before I decide to kick you out to the streets once and for all." Helena snarled.
"My father needs a transplant." I informed her. "Please help me. The hospital needs a deposit of hundred thousand dollars to start the transplant process or he will die."
"Why are you yapping in my ear?" She growled. "You think I care about all this? Oh did you really think I'd toss away hundred thousand dollars on that corpse."
My chest tightened painfully at her cruel words.
"If I were you, I'd be hoping he just passes away so you can finally be free, " mia laughed.
"You better be back here in the next hour or you can say goodbye to living under my roof." My step mother warned.
Before I could say anything else, I heard the dial tone indicating that she had hung up. I felt hopeless. What was i going to do? How could I just watch my father die?
I staggered out of the toilet stall, and immediately ran into someone.
The woman's green eyes went wide with terror as soon as she saw me. "What are you doing here? Are you following me?"
"What?" I asked, confused. I even glanced over my shoulders to see if it was really me she was talking to.
"Did Logan send you?" The woman snapped, looking angrier and angrier. "Does he really have no shame to have me followed all the way here."
"I don't know what you're talking about. You must have me confused with someone else."
The woman scoffed, flipping her dark hair over her shoulder. "I'm not surprised that he picked you. Well, you can tell him that I said you're nothing but a cheap carbon copy of me, and you're not half the woman I'll ever be."
I was still very confused. "Look, I don't want any trouble. I was just leaving."
As I turned to walk past her, she grabbed me by my collar, and pushed me backward. "Don't try to play with my intelligence. You think I don't know what's going on here. As a matter of fact, tell that bastard Logan that I'm done."
"I don't even know who Logan is!" I snapped at her. "You're crazy lady. Just let me go. I don't have time for this. I need to go see my father."
I tried to move past her again, but she stepped in my way, face screwed into a mask of burning fury. To my shock, she pulled off a ring from her hand and pushed it into mine.
"You can have it, and you can have him you b***h. I don't even want to ever see that heartless jerk for the rest of my life" she snapped. "Tell him to stop looking for me. I'm going out of the country with my new boyfriend. He better sign those goddamn divorce papers."
And with that, she turned around and marched out of the room, heels clicking against the tiles. I stared down at the costly diamond ring on my finger, wondering what the hell just happened.
I tried to pull off the ring and go after the woman to give it back to her, but it was suddenly stuck.
"Ugh, I can't deal with this right now. I need to see dad."
I made my way out of the bathroom, but just as I did, I ran into a hard wall of muscle. "What the_" I staggered back, about to apologize when my gaze fell on the most handsome man I'd ever seen in my life.
He looked like a model or a movie star, with thick dark brown hair, stunning blue eyes and a jawline that could cut glass.
"I'm s-sorry for n-not_" my stuttering was cut short when the man suddenly grabbed my wrist and held it up, staring at the ring on my hand. He glared at me.
"For someone who's so desperate to get divorced, it seems you're not ready to let go of my ring." He growled.
"What?" I asked. "There's a mistake. This isn't my ring. It belongs to someone else and I was just trying to_"
"Enough of the games." The man ordered. "This marriage is far from over, Vivienne."
Who the hell was Vivienne?
