When we got to the hospital, I helped the paramedics get Tink and the stretcher out of the back of the squad car. I helped to wheel her into the hospital, and when we got into the emergency room, the doctors and nurses stopped me. "I'm sorry, sir, but you can't go any farther than this. Go to the waiting room and sit, and we'll be out when we can to let you know how she is," the nurse told me.
"OK," I told her. I still had ahold of Tink's hand, so I bent down and kissed her lightly on the lips. "You fight hard for Veer, your family, and me, Tink. I'll see you soon, baby." I let go of her hand, and they took her into a room and shut the door. I waited until I couldn't see her anymore and then headed into the waiting room.
