I spent the rest of that weekend with my baby boy. Dove and I had planned to take him to the zoo on Sunday, but she was having problems with her editor. She had been on video calls almost constantly since yesterday. This editor is someone who is temporary and has been nothing but a b***h. Her actual editor is on maternity leave and will be for another two months. She just went on leave two weeks ago, and already this temp is being a b***h.
Dove can't figure out why, because she doesn't even know the girl. And yet the girl acts like she has done her wrong. So she spent most of Sunday on different video calls and got enough proof of how the b***h was treating her.
She called the CEO of the company and told them what was happening. She also sent a text to her regular editor to fill her in on what was going on. This girl was trying to sabotage not only Dove's book but her release day as well. She changed a bunch of stuff around in the book and even deleted part of it. At least she thought that she did.
Thankfully, it was saved and already sent to the publisher before her actual editor left on leave. But everything that this girl was doing was being recorded on the company laptop. So when Dove had a video call with her with the CEO sitting in, unseen, she admitted to everything that she had done. She even told Dove that she would make sure that her books failed and that no one would ever want to read her again. The CEO heard everything, and he was pissed.
On Monday, Dove had to go into the office for a meeting and so didn't the temp. After a long week of fighting back and forth over what the girl did and threats of lawsuits on her part (she tried to say that she was being framed). She's the one who ended up fired with a lawsuit against her.
Since Dove was busy going back and forth to the office, she wasn't able to watch my nugget for me like she usually does. So I called one of our other best friends, Tatum, or Tater Tot, as we call him. He is six foot five and a big guy. He probably weighs around two hundred and fifty pounds. You wouldn't know it from looking at him, but he is gay and married to the love of his life. They both ride on motorcycles most of the time, but if they are going to watch my nugget, they bring their SUV.
They are mechanics and own their own shop. It is a big place, and they not only fix vehicles and motorcycles but they also build custom motorcycles. They have the shop split up into two different sections. One half is for their custom builds, and the other half is just a regular mechanic shop. They love what they do and are very proud of it. It's actually how they got together. They were both in college for a degree in mechanics and started working part-time with a local mechanic. They met, fell in love, and have been together ever since.
I keep a sign-up in my shop to advertise both of their businesses, and they do the same for me. They keep a big sign up in their waiting room to advertise for my bakery.
Tate's mom has a small shop down from my bakery. She makes and sells crafts, and she also has spaces in the store so that other local crafters can set up their goods and sell them. Most people would want a big profit off of it, not her. She only asks for so much a month to see their stuff.
She has taken us all under her wing and has become a mom to not only me but Dove as well. And she's become a grandma to my little nugget. She and her husband have been divorced for years. When Tate came out at sixteen as gay, he got pissed off and threw a huge fit. He ended up beating the hell out of Tate, and Momma Mia called the cops on him and had him arrested. She then talked to a lawyer and filed for a divorce.
Tate's dad spent time in jail for what he did to him, and because he hadn't been working for a while, Momma Mia got everything in the divorce. She had a pretty big inheritance from when her grandparents passed away. She had been using it to pay the bills since he wasn't working. She actually paid for everything of theirs. And she was smart and didn't put his name on her checking account that had the money in it, so he couldn't touch it.
She told us that she refused to be with a man who would abuse her son like he did just because he was gay. She loved Tate and everything about him and wouldn't put up with anyone abusing him. Her parents and the rest of her family stood behind her, and Tate threw all of it.
These days, she keeps busy by making her crafts and running her store. And when she's not doing either of those things, then she's spending time with all of us. She just loves to spend time with Veer, and when I need someone to watch him, she's happy to do it. She even has a pack-in-play set up at her shop for him when she's got him.
When Dove wasn't able to watch him this week, I was on the phone with Tate, and he said that his mom would probably love to watch him for me. So after I got off the phone with him, I called Momma Mia, and she was happy to keep him for me during the day. We had it worked out so that Dove would drop him off to her when she left for work, and I'd pick him up when I was done.
Since we didn't make it to the Zoo on Sunday and it was a busy week. We all decided to go to the Zoo this Saturday. I didn't have any taste testings or anything, so I had the full weekend off from the shop. So on Saturday, I got up and got ready for the day.
I got dressed in a pair of blue jeans, a T-shirt, tennis shoes, and a long, open sweater. It was warmer than it had been but there was still a chill in the air. I threw my hair up into a messy bun and I was ready for the day.
We were all going to meet at a local diner, Nonna's Place, so that we could eat breakfast together and then head to the zoo. So after I got Veer dressed, we waited for Dove, and after she was ready, we headed out.
I couldn't wait to spend the day with some of my favorite people. I just wish that my dad and grandma were here with us.
Hopefully, one day soon, we will be able to be together as a family again.
