I sat there staring at twelve men on the board as they all chatted to each other. All of them except one, a much older man, who just sat there quietly. I breathed in the air in the stuffy meeting room and cursed myself for having worn these specific heels. They were the most professional ones I owned but my god were they uncomfortable. These men were going to be deciding if Edwardo's appointed CEO, was up to the task. They could have easily not shown up and decided on their own that I wasn't, but at least they came right? Luckily, I recognized at least one face, it was the Ellington guy from the bar. He didn't know me but I knew him, well, that debatable.
